Sixty-five epikeratophakia procedures have been performed in 63 patients; visual acuity data have been tabulated on 31 patients with 4 to 30 months follow-up. BACKGROUND: To evaluate the efficacy, predictability, and stability of the refractive effect produced by the Intrastromal Corneal Ring (ICR), the authors completed a 12-month study on 10 myopic eyes.

Injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is a common aesthetic procedure. Impairment of vision, although rare, is a devastating complication of this procedure, which may not be reversible. A case of Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy is reported in order to draw attention to this rare mitochondrial disease in the differential diagnostics and to show current treatment options. In this case despite very poor initial visual acuity and late start of treatment an improvement of visual acuity relevant for the patient could be achieved.

Thirteen years after cataract extraction, a patient complained of diminished visual acuity. In the interim visual acuity was 6/6 (20/20), or 6/7.5 (20/25+2). Fluorescein angiography demonstrated cystoid macular edema. Except for vitreous adherence to the inner surface of the cataract wound, no ocular cause for the macular edema was apparent.

We report the occurrence of serous retinal detachment in association with choroidal effusion and hypotony in six eyes that had undergone glaucoma filtering surgery. Hypotony with choroidal effusion was documented in five patients before the onset of serous retinal detachment. While one patient underwent vitrectomy, treatment was conservative in the other patients. Serous retinal detachment and choroidal effusions resolved spontaneously as the intraocular pressure normalized. Although one patient regained preoperative visual acuity, all other patients lost at least one line of Snellen acuity.

CASE REPORT: Our purpose is to describe a case of an acute optic neuropathy with apical muscle thickening in a patient already diagnosed with giant cell arteritis. Loss of visual acuity and perimetric concentric constriction responded rapidly to intravenous glucocorticoid therapy.
