The objective was to investigate interactions between phytase, protease, and anti-nutritional factors in soybeans. In Experiments 1 (in vitro), 2 (broiler chickens), and 3 (precision-fed roosters), trypsin inhibitor activity, growth performance, and amino acid (AA) digestibility were assessed. We have investigated the function of inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6) and inositol pentakisphosphate (IP5) in the replication of murine leukemia virus (MLV). While IP6 is known to be critical for the life cycle of HIV-1, its significance in MLV remains unexplored. We find that IP6 is indeed important for MLV replication. It significantly enhances endogenous reverse transcription (ERT) in MLV. Additionally, a pelleting-based assay reveals that IP6 can stabilize MLV cores, thereby facilitating ERT. Venous vascular complications in liver transplant recipients are rare. Diagnosis is usually based on clinical criteria and typical findings on liver biopsy. The scintigraphic patterns of posttransplant liver veno-occlusive disease are described, and the value of follow-up studies is suggested. The authors present 2 patients who developed posttransplantation hepatic veno-occlusive disease. The first patient had a severe form of the disease and a fatal outcome. The second patient had a mild to moderate form of this disorder with complete resolution following treatment.

Some wild seeds, namely Parkia biglobosa, Tetracarpidum conophorum, Pentaclethra macrophylla, Irvingia gabonensis, Afzelia africana, Prosporis africana and Monodora myristica, were randomly collected from various parts of Nigeria and analyzed with regard to their proximate, mineral, antinutrient composition and zinc bioavailability. Partial diaphragmatic eventration, when occurring at uncommon sites, is difficult to diagnose when only using a plain X-p and fluoroscopy. We experienced an unusual variety of this disorder. In order to diagnose this case, liver scintigraphy using 99mTc-phytate was performed, and we were able to make a definite diagnosis without other invasive examinations.

Phytate is an antinutritional factor that influences the bioavailability of essential minerals by forming complexes with them and converting them into insoluble salts.
