The effects of PSK on hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes were investigated using Sarcoma 180-bearing and non-tumor-bearing ICR mice. PSK, an immunomodulator, has been commonly used in combination with tegafur for post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy. BACKGROUND: Acne is one of the dermatological pathologies with the highest incidence around the world. It is a multifactorial disease and its treatment can be complex. Propionibacterium acnes play a key role in the inflammation of this dermatosis. Topical antibiotics, including mainly erythromycin and clindamycin, have been used, but there is controversy over their use due to the widely documented bacterial resistance. The primary indication for systemic antibiotics is acute therapy for moderate-to-severe inflammatory acne. The preferred agents include tetracyclines and derivatives; macrolides, co-trimoxazole, and trimethoprim may represent acceptable alternatives. We report a case of Propionibacterium acnes septic arthritis of a shoulder following two joint access procedures. Methodical investigation of these two procedures was performed using the Joint Commission root cause analysis matrix, which involved examination of protocols, interviews with technologists and physicians, and inspection of the procedure rooms and equipment. This study aimed to investigate the bacteriome in microscopically healthy middle ear mucosa using Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. A total of 60 middle ear washing fluids of pediatric and adult were obtained from 47 patients (35 children and 12 adults). To determine the incidence of transient bacteremia associated with laparoscopy, a prospective study was carried out in 113 patients with diverse liver diseases. Blood samples for aerobic and anaerobic cultures were obtained for each patient immediately before laparoscopy, within three minutes after creation of pneumoperitoneum and within three minutes after needle biopsy of the liver.
