BACKGROUND: Recently, it has been suggested that Helicobacter pylori might be a cause of some cases of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) in infancy on the basis of its epidemiologic and clinical features. We performed this study to evaluate the possible relationship between IHPS and H. pylori.
DESIGN: In consecutive infants with IHPS, we performed upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with biopsy before pyloromyotomy. The endoscopic appearance of the pylorus was noted to validate endoscopic features of IHPS.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: After the introduction of POEM several years ago, the position of pneumatic dilation (PD) in the treatment of achalasia has been challenged. During PD, balloon pressure changes according to the volume of gas injected. This may reflect esophagogastric junction (EGJ) compliance, a parameter recently considered important by POEM operators. In this study, we aimed to assess whether the pneumatic dilation balloon catheter combined with a precise pressure sensor allows for the evaluation of EGJ compliance, and then, help predict the outcome of POEM in the treatment of achalasia.

METHODS: This was a retrospective multicenter study of all G-POEM operations performed in seven expert French centers for refractory gastroparesis with at least 1 year of follow-up.
