Adenomyoma of the stomach is an exceedingly rare and benign tumour. We report here what we believe to be the first documented case in Singapore. Our patient is unique in three respects; an eight-week old infant presented with signs and symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Operative findings showed a small tumour in the pylorus of the stomach. The abdominal contents were covered with a colourless mucous slime, giving an appearance of pseudomyxoma peritonei. This is a feature which has not been hitherto reported. Myenteric plexuses and smooth muscle of the pylorus obtained by biopsy at pyloro myotomy in 5 infants with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis were studied by electron microscopy. The stomach wall ATP and ADP have been studied in rats, with and without bilateral surgical vagotomy, 24 hr after pylorus ligation. The mechanism of the gastric secretory inhibition caused by the simultaneous ligation of the upper and lower duodenum or the jejunum in pylorus-ligated rats was studied. Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) is one of the most common complications following ppPD. Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors are rare benign tumors that can mimic malignancy of unknown aetiology. It has spectrum of myofibroblastic proliferation along with varying amount of inflammatory infiltrate. Recently, the concept of this lesion being reactive has been challenged based on the clinical demonstration of recurrences and metastasis and cytogenetic evidence of acquired clonal chromosomal abnormalities. We hereby report a case of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor involving liver, gallbladder pylorus and 1st part of duodenum.
