This study reports 2 cases of recurrent rectal prolapse secondary to anal abnormality in cats. In both cases the anus was wide, leading to a rectal mucosal prolapse during defecation. A silicone elastomer sling was introduced around the anus, and the rectal prolapse was definitively resolved.

High Dk silicone hydrogel lenses have overcome many of the hypoxic problems associated with traditional extended wear and the popularity of continuous wear (up to 30 nights) with these lens types is increasing. There are two reasons for radiologic evaluation of the augmented breast. Because women with implants are at the same risk for breast cancer as other women, imaging is performed to screen for cancer or to work up clinical abnormalities. Additionally, imaging allows assessment of implant integrity. The various methods for imaging implants and breast tissue in the augmented patient are discussed. Imaging findings suggestive of silicone gel implant rupture are presented.

Silicone synovitis is a known complication of silicone implants used in orthopedic surgery for joint reconstruction. It has been studied with routine radiography; however, no report on magnetic resonance imaging abnormalities of this condition exist in the literature. This article reports on five patients with silicone synovitis studied by magnetic resonance imaging. All patients showed hypointense implants that were deformed, fragmented or subluxed, and intra- and periarticular silicone particles were evident on T1- and T2-weighted images.

PURPOSE: We studied the results and complications of silicone oil removal applying basic criteria for the selection of eyes.
METHODS: The criteria for oil removal: 1. Completely attached retina for at least 4 weeks, 2. Absence of tractions and active proliferations, 3. Preoperative vision > 0.01. The oil was removed from 90 of 261 oil filled eyes (removal rate: 34.5%). 83 eyes were included in the further study.
