BACKGROUNDS: Endoscopic tattooing failure by deep mural injection or tattoo leakage-induced massive staining causes localization errors or decreased laparoscopic visualization. This study reports the evaluation of a number of spectroscopic techniques used in identifying and quantifying the presence of lead in twelve commercial and traditional henna samples. We have developed a new method to localize a tumor during totally laparoscopic gastrectomy that uses intraoperative laparoscopic ultrasonography combined with preoperative clipping and tattooing. Tattoo pigment migration can appear on breast imaging, including mammography and ultrasound, where it may mimic malignant findings. In the literature, 19 cases have been reported.
