Herein we show the development of biointerfaces on indium-tin oxide (ITO) surfaces prepared from organophosphonate self-assembled monolayers. The interfaces were prepared in a stepwise fabrication procedure containing a base monolayer modified with oligo(ethylene oxide) species to which biological recognition ligands were attached. In this study, flexible transparent heaters with heating films made of indium tin oxide (ITO) are fabricated on plastic substrates. The optical transmittance of a representative flexible heater is above 90% in the visible and near infrared regions. The steady-state temperature is determined by the bias voltage and reaches about 180 degrees C at a bias voltage of 50 V. The heat-generating properties are nearly the same before and after the application of tensile strain. Furthermore, the defrosting ability is demonstrated using a block of dry-ice.

Polymer solar cells are fabricated on highly conductive, transparent amorphous zinc indium tin oxide (a-ZITO) electrodes. For two representative active layer donor polymers, P3HT and PTB7, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) are comparable to reference devices using polycrystalline indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes. Benefitting from the amorphous character of a-ZITO, the new devices are highly flexible and can be repeatedly bent to a radius of 5 mm without significant PCE reduction.

This Letter presents the fabrication of optical fiber refractometers based on indium tin oxide (ITO) coatings deposited by sputtering with response in the visible region. ITO thin films have been sputtered by means of a rotating mechanism that enables the fabrication of smooth and homogeneous coatings onto the optical fiber core. The title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)(C(7)H(5)N(2)O(4))](n), forms polymeric chains along [010]. The Sn(IV) ion is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry by two monodentate carboxyl-ate groups and three phenyl rings. The axial sites are occupied by the O atoms of two symmetry-related carboxyl-ate groups [O-Sn-O = 170.88 (3)°]. The benzene ring of the 5-amino-2-nitro-benzoate ligand forms dihedral angles of 82.92 (6), 81.10 (6) and 83.54 (6)° with respect to the three phenyl rings. In the crystal, the chains are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O inter-actions

The two Sn-O-C-C-C-O chelate rings in the title compound, [Sn(C(15)H(11)O(2))(2)Cl(2)]·0.5C(7)H(8), adopt envelope conformations, with the Sn atom deviating from the least-squares plane passing through the C and O atoms by 0.626 (1) Å in one ring and by 0.690 (1) Å for the other. The two planes are aligned at an angle of 59.6 (1)°. The Cl atoms occupy cis positions in the octa-hedral SnCl(2)O(4) coordination environment. The solvent mol-ecule is disordered about a center of inversion.

In the title polymeric coordination compound, [Sn(CH(3))(3)(C(20)H(12)O(4)P)](n), the Sn atom exhibits a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry with the phosphate O atoms of the 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyl phospho-nate ligands in axial positions and equatorial sites occupied by the three methyl groups. Adjacent Sn atoms are bridged by coordination to the two O atoms of each 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyl phospho-nate ligand, forming a one-dimensional chain structure parallel to the b axis.

In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Sn(4)Br(2)(C(6)H(5))(8)O(2)(OH)(2)], the four tin(IV) atoms are bridged by the hydroxo and oxo ligands, forming a ladder-like array of three edge-connected Sn(2)O(2) squares. The six coordinate Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry. π-π inter-actions between adjacent aromatic rings [interplanar distance 3.483 (5) Å] seem to be effective in the stabilization of the crystal packing.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)Cl(H(2)O)]·C(12)H(8)N(2), which was refined in the triclinic space group P [Fu, Gao, Ma & Zhang (2005 ▶). Chin. J. Synth. Chem. 13, 55-57], has been redetermined in the monoclinic space group C2/c from low-temperature diffraction measurements. The Sn atom is five-coordinate in a trans-C(3)SnClO trigonal-bipyramidal geometry; the coordinated water mol-ecule forms a pair of hydrogen bonds to the nitro-gen heterocycle.

This study evaluated the ability of topically applied amine fluoride (AmF) and AmF-tin fluoride to inhibit the adhesion of Streptococcus sanguis within a parallel plate flow cell system. One of three AmF compounds and two tin fluoride preparations significantly reduced the net bacterial adhesion to conditioned glass over a 1-h period. Tin(IV) fluoride inhibited S. sanguis adhesion to the greatest extent, and this was shown to be dependent on the formation of the conditioning film prior to agent application.

Non-spinning and magic angle spinning (MAS) 119Sn nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of the binary tin sulphides SnS and SnS2 as well as of a number of stoichiometric compounds from the ternary system Na2S-SnS2 have been recorded.
