Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) combines the high diffusion coefficients of gas chromatography (GC) and the solubility properties of liquid chromatography (LC). A simple and reliable extraction method was developed for quantitative determination of both butyl- and phenyltin compounds in sediments by capillary gas chromatography combined with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (GC-ICP-MS). The title compound is the tin-richest phase in the system Sr-Sn and is obtained by stoichiometric combination of the elements. SrSn(4) peritecticly decomposes under formation of SrSn(3) and Sn at 340 degrees C. The structure determined from a single crystal shows a new structure type with a novel structure motive in tin chemistry. N-[2-P(i-Pr)(2)-4-methylphenyl](2)(-) (PNP) pincer complexes of tin(IV) and tin(II), [(PNP)SnCl(3)] (2) and [(PNP)SnN(SiMe(3))(2)] (3), respectively, were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction, solution and solid state NMR spectroscopy, and (119)Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy. Furthermore, (119)Sn cross polarization magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopic data of [Sn(NMe(2))(2)](2) are reported. The therapeutic effects on pneumatic dilatation were evaluated quantitatively by radionuclide transit study using 99mTc-Sn colloid in an achalasia patient. After dilatation, transit time (T3/4) with distilled water has improved from 13.5 seconds to 5.5 seconds. Radionuclide transit study using 99mTc-Sn colloid was a preferable method to evaluate the efficacy of the treatment quantitatively in an achalasia.

The hepatic perfusion index (HPI) was measured in 180 patients with colorectal cancer: 109 with primary colorectal cancer, 38 with suspected recurrent colorectal cancer and 33 following curative resection of colorectal cancer. Ninety-nine patients with alcohol related problems underwent a liver scintiscan and biopsy. The scan changes were graded and compared with the histological changes found from percutaneous liver biopsy. The overall correlation between scan and biopsy changes was poor. However, scintiscanning was found to be highly sensitive (90%) in detecting cirrhosis and for this reason is useful as a screening test in selecting alcoholic patients for biopsy.
