OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the added role of T1-weighted (T1w) gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC) compared with T2-weighted MRC (T2w-MRC) in the detection of biliary leaks.
METHODS: Ninety-nine patients with suspected biliary complications underwent routine T2w-MRC and T1w contrast-enhanced (CE) MRC using Gd-EOB-DTPA to identify biliary leaks. Two observers reviewed the image sets separately and together. MRC findings were compared with those of surgery and percutaneous transhepatic cholangiopancreatography.

Lymphangioma is a rare benign condition characterized by proliferation of lymphatic spaces. It is usually found in the head and neck of affected children. Lymphangioma of the small-bowel mesentery is rare, having been reported for less than 1% of all lymphangiomas. Importantly, it can cause fatal complications such as volvulus or involvement of the main branch of the mesenteric arteries, requiring emergency surgery. Acute renal failure (ARF) is a frequent medical complication after liver transplantation (LT). We analyzed cadaveric related liver transplant recipients who had developed ARF early in the postoperative course. Between January 1982 and August 2003, a total of 67 patients underwent cadaveric related LT. Their mean age was 28.64 years at LT. From November 1998 to March 2000, two hundred patients over the age of 60 years (Elderly) with clinical renal disease were studied. 144 patients were between ages of 60-69 years, 46 between 70-79 years and 10 were above 80 years. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease, with the synovium as the target tissue. We made 594 US examinations of the knee in 240 children (mean age: 9 years) with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. All patients underwent at least one US exam and 156 patients underwent many US examinations during 3 years' follow-up. Delayed pneumocephalus is a rare but well-reported complication of cerebrospinal fluid diversion procedures. In most cases the air enters the intracranial cavity via a skull base defect.
