Clinical Predictors of Response in Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease: Results From the "Predicting the Quality of Response to Specific Treatments (PQRST)" Trial.

Despite significant progress in chronic GVHD therapies, challenges remain in understanding pleomorphic phenotypes and varying responses to treatment. The aim of this study was to identify predictors of treatment response. We conducted a prospective, observational cohort study of patients beginning first-, second-, or third-line systemic therapy for chronic GVHD with defined agents. We describe best and 6-month response rates, failure-free survival (FFS), and clinical predictors of response. An Observational Analysis of a Large Cohort of Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia.

BACKGROUND: Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) is increasingly seen in patients who are non-HIV immunocompromised hosts, yet modern risk factors and outcomes are poorly recognized and defined. METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted of adult patients who met criteria for proven or probable PCP from 2017 to 2024 across a large academic multicenter health system. The primary outcome was mortality among cohorts, defined by etiology of immunosuppression through univariate and age-adjusted logistic regression. Secondary analyses included trends in annual diagnoses and testing patterns.

BackgroundStandard therapy for multiple myeloma (MM) includes initial autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (autoHCT1) but this is not curative and most patients will relapse. This article presents a detailed account of the incidence, prevalence, and survival experience of people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) covered by Medicare. The number of new entrants into the ESRD program has risen since its inception. This increase is greatest for people whose cause of renal failure is primary hypertensive disease or diabetic nephropathy. The program incidence rates for black people is 2.8 times that of white people. Incidence is highest for persons 65 to 69 years of age.
