Erythrocyte 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) were measured in 16 patients with polycythaemia vera and found to be normal. The determination of erythrocyte organic phosphate concentration can be helpful in the differential diagnosis of different types of polycythaemia due to the lack of 2,3-DPG rise in patients with polycythaemia vera, as compared to the 2,3-DPG increase usually observed in patients with secondary polycythaemia.

A modification of Aurbach & Houston's enzymic method for measuring cAMP is presented. The procedure is relatively simple and in several respects new. Urinary cAMP is separated from other nucleotides and phosphate by ZnSO4-Ba(OH)2 precipitation and column chromatography. The eluate is concentrated by evaporation. Recovery at this stage is 60-82%. Programmed RNA editing presents an attractive therapeutic strategy for genetic disease. In this study, we developed bacterial deaminase-enabled recoding of RNA (DECOR), which employs an evolved Escherichia coli transfer RNA adenosine deaminase, TadA8e, to deposit adenosine-to-inosine editing to CRISPR-specified sites in the human transcriptome.
