Continence advice by telehealth for young people.

Children and young people operate in an advanced technological world where new, exciting opportunities exist for remote interactions. To engage with these service users, we set up a nurse-led telehealth facility that enabled young people with spina bifida to access specialist continence service from home. This article describes efforts to embed this innovation into practice and offer insight to some of the challenges we faced in the process. It offers practical guidance on setting up similar services.

AI-assisted feedback in nursing education: A Human-in-the-Loop Assessment Framework for ethical and pedagogically sound practice.

The increasing adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in higher education has generated significant opportunities to support assessment and feedback processes. In nursing education, where assessment is closely linked to the development of clinical judgement and safe practice, the integration of AI-assisted marking presents both opportunities and risks. This paper synthesises emerging empirical and policy literature to examine the reliability, pedagogical implications, and ethical challenges of AI-assisted iterative feedback in nursing education. Evidence suggests that while Gen

[Men and the Nursing Profession: Toward a Gender-Aware and Supportive Environment].

Taipei Junior College of Nursing (now National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences) and the Department of Nursing at Taipei Medical College (now the School of Nursing at Taipei Medical University) first admitted male students in 1985, with other college and university nursing programs following thereafter. Today, more than 40 years after the opening of nursing education to male students in Taiwan (Yang, 2000), men are an increasingly visible and important presence in both nursing education and clinical practice. Nevertheless, throughout their education, clinical practice, and care

Conceptualizing end-of-life communication by nursing staff as part of advance care planning with older people: A multiple discipline focus group study.

BACKGROUND: Understanding the fundamentals of end-of-life communication by nursing staff as part of advance care planning with older people and their family caregivers can enhance nurse education, research, and practice in end-of-life communication. We developed a preliminary theoretical framework based on previous studies, incorporating literature and perspectives from nursing staff, older people, and family caregivers. Reflection and discussion from these groups- as well as from physicians and spiritual caregivers with whom nursing staff most often collaborate in advance care planning-should

Nursing care for chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy survivors: A literature review.

Chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy is an immunotherapy that involves genetically modifying the patient's own T cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor, enabling them to recognize and destroy cancer cells. This treatment has revolutionized the prognosis and management of hematological malignancies, leading to a significant increase in long-term survivors. However, there is limited evidence regarding late sequelae and post-treatment care due to the recent emergence of this therapy. The rapid advancement of CAR-T therapies has created opportunities for advanced practice nurses

Home-Based Exercise in Older Adults Recently Discharged From the Hospital for Cardiovascular Disease in China: Randomized Clinical Trial.

BACKGROUND: Exercise is important for fitness and recovery of older adults after hospitalization for treatment of cardiovascular disease. Home-based, nurse-led exercise programs may be beneficial. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to test the effects of a low-intensity, home-based exercise protocol led by an advanced practice nurse on health-related quality of life (HRQOL), physical fitness, and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in older adults after hospital discharge with a cardiovascular disease diagnosis. METHODS: The study was randomized and single blinded. Seventy-seven olde

The effects of add-on self-care on older patients with total hip arthroplasty: a retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a common surgical treatment for advanced hip disorders, particularly in older adults. However, postoperative recovery in this population is often complicated by comorbidities, prolonged immobilization, and reduced self-efficacy. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of self-care–based nursing procedures, grounded in Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Theory, in improving postoperative recovery, reducing complications, and promoting early mobilization among older patients undergoing THA. METHODS: This retrospective study included 130 older adults who

Reimagining the Community Nursing Bag: Eco-Smart and Technology-Integrated Solutions.

Community health nurses play a vital role in delivering preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare services through home visits and outreach programs. The community nursing bag has long served as an essential tool for carrying supplies, equipment, medications, and records required for field-based nursing care. However, conventional community bags face several limitations, including infection-control concerns, excessive weight, poor ergonomic design, environmental impact, and limited integration with digital technologies. These challenges necessitate the modernization of tra
