INTRODUCTION: Bronchogenic cysts (BC) are congenital lesions, it results from an abnormal budding of the tracheobronchial tree. Malignant transformation is very rare. We report a case of adenocarcinoma arising in a BC of the posterior mediastinum detected after surgery.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report the case of a 32-year-old man, without a particular medical history. The patient presented a cough associated with dyspnea, and a weight loss 4-month before the diagnosis. The imaging tools, showed a voluminous latero-tracheal mass of the posterior mediastinum. The diagnoses of a neurogenic tumo…

BACKGROUND: The objectives of our study are to evaluate our surgical experience of mediastinal bronchogenic cyst (MBC) and to determine the results of resection by video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and posterolateral thoracotomy (PLT).
METHODS: The demographic characteristics, clinical and radiological features intraoperative data, outcomes and fol- low-up information were reviewed and analyzed from 38 patients who underwent resection of a MBC between 2008 and 2019.
RESULTS: cystectomy was performed for thirty eight patients included in the present study. Seventeen of them, benefited fr…

The incidence of retroperitoneal bronchial cyst is rare and is unusual to be visualized on I scan. We report a 52-year-old man who received I therapy for papillary thyroid cancer. The postablation whole-body scan revealed increased radioiodine activity in the left abdomen. SPECT/CT localized this activity from a soft tissue mass in the retroperitoneal space. A retroperitoneal tumor was considered, and retroperitoneal laparoscopic tumor resection was performed. Pathologic examination confirmed a retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst.

We reported a case of surgically resected double bronchogenic cysts within the anterior mediastinum. An anterior mediastinal tumor had been found at medical examination 6 years ago in a 66-year-old man, but has been followed up without treatment. After the treatment of another disease, he was referred to our hospital for evaluation of the mediastinal tumor. A chest computed tomography showed 2 anterior mediastinal nodules. Nodules in the thymus were resected with video-assisted thoracic surgery. The tumors were both pathologically diagnosed as bronchogenic cysts.

Intraabdominal bronchogenic cysts, a type of foregut cyst, are very rare. We report a case in a 12-year-old female who presented with severe abdominal pain and, in radiology workup, a cystic lesion that mimicked ovarian mass.

BACKGROUND: Bronchogenic cysts are benign lesions derived from the primitive foregut. They frequently occur in the mediastinum, most commonly at the subcarinal level. Subdiaphragmatic location for bronchogenic cysts is extremely rare.
METHODS: A 40-year-old woman presented with worsening dysphagia and was diagnosed as a bronchogenic cyst arising from infradiaphragmatic esophagus by computed tomographic scan and endoscopic ultrasound-guided aspiration. Total laparoscopic enucleation of the cystic mass was performed.
RESULTS: The postoperative esophagogram revealed no leak or reflux and the pa…

Intracranial bronchogenic cysts are extremely rare. This is the first reported case of a bronchogenic cyst arising from the thalamus. Complete microsurgical resection was undertaken. A literature review was conducted to explore the etiologies, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic strategies for this type of rare disease.

A 76-year-old woman had (131)I accumulation within the mediastinum in the setting of thyroid carcinoma remission. Extensive diagnostic imaging including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), endoscopic ultrasound, bronchoscopy, and subsequently a needle aspiration biopsy revealed that the mass was a bronchogenic cyst. Five-year clinical and laboratory follow-up showed that the patient was free from thyroid carcinoma recurrence.

BACKGROUND: Bronchogenic cysts are congenital malformations and are often detected in asymptomatic patients as an incidental finding. Growth can cause compression of airways and vessels, resulting in clinical symptoms and possible complications. On computed tomography (CT) scans, bronchogenic cysts frequently have the appearance of a solid tumor. We describe diagnostic strategy and management for patients with bronchogenic cysts.
METHODS: Retrospective case study of 11 adults diagnosed with a bronchogenic cyst. The CT scan of all patients was revised and localization, size, Hounsfield Units (…

Cutaneous bronchogenic cysts are very rare congenital lesions. Scapular localization is frequently found in the literature. Only the histological analysis can confirm the diagnosis, because no clinical characteristic is pathognomonic. Surgical excision of the lesion is justified by the risk of local infection and discomfort related to the recurrent flow.

Partial defect of the pericardium combined with bronchogenic cyst is a very rare congenital anomaly. We describe the case of a 32-year-old man with a partial defect of the left pericardium and a bronchogenic cyst arising from the border of the pericardial defect. The cyst was successfully resected with the harmonic scalpel by three-port videothoracoscopic approach.

Bronchogenic cyst is a benign congenital developmental abnormality of the embryonic foregut. The skin is a rare site for bronchogenic cysts, and in this location it is often a solitary lesion. It is poorly recognized by clinicians and in almost all cases the diagnosis is established by histopathologic examination. This report documents a new case of multiple cutaneous bronchogenic cysts bilaterally located on the neck and on the scalp, which are unusual locations of this lesion.

We report two cases of bronchogenic cyst in the diaphragm. Case 1 was a female patient with hepatocellular carcinoma. Computed tomography showed a tumor in the right lower lung and metastasis was suspected initially because of underlying disease and imaging findings. Case 2 was a female patient who presented with prolonged intermittent cough. Computed tomography showed a tumor in the left lower lung. Both tumors were excised by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, and the diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology.

An 11-year-old girl presented with severe respiratory distress, fever and septic manifestations. Computed tomography scan (CT) of the chest showed 2 separate superior and posterior mediastinal cysts, the upper one causing severe extrinsic compression of the trachea, and the oesophagus, while the lower cyst was at the subcarinal region compressing the 2 major bronchi. Emergency thoracotomy was performed permitting complete resection of intra-mural oesophageal enteric cyst, and a subcarinal bronchogenic cyst. The postoperative course was uneventful.

The Authors describe a very rare congenital case of bronchogenic subcutaneous cyst of the scapular region occurring in a 8-year-old girl. On … taneous ciliated cyst (Mullerian cyst) is discussed. It appears conceivable that cutaneous ciliated bronchogenic cysts may show partial or fully developed features indicating their bronchial origin.

CASE REPORT: A 41-year-old male saw his general practitioner because of progressive atypical angina symptoms and palpitations for the last 7 years. Chest X-ray showed a mediastinal mass. Further investigation by computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cardiac catheterization revealed two bronchogenic cysts. After median sternotomy and pericardial incision, two cystic masses were found on top of and dorsal to the right atrium. Following resection, the patient was free of previously experienced problems related to his atypical angina symptoms. Histological investigation sh…
