The purpose of this presentation is to report the progress of two interventional catheter techniques that have occupied my attention for the last 10 years; namely, transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus occlusion and patch atrial septal defect closure. A brief survey of the aspects of interventional cardiology, including its past, present and future, will also be included.

Hyperkalaemia is one of the most common electrolyte disorders in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). The true burden of hyperkalaemia in the real-world setting can be difficult to assess, but in population-based cohort studies up to 4 in 10 patients developed hyperkalaemia. AIMS: Endosonography (EUS) is the diagnostic tool with the highest resolution for the local staging of gastrointestinal tumours and, due to the detailed visualization of the wall layers, is recommended in current guidelines for cancer management. In addition, an endoscope has an ultrasound tip design and balloon insufflation control design, and a 120° bending mechanism to deflect the endoscope tip.
