Bisphosphonates are agents that are potentially useful for treatment of osteoporosis. They are antiresorptive agents, increasing bone mass by decreasing the frequency of osteoclast activation or the depth of osteoclast resorption, or both. Intermittent cyclical therapy with etidronate has been shown to be effective for postmenopausal osteoporosis in two controlled studies. Several second- and third- generation bisphosphonates are undergoing active clinical trials.

We evaluated the contribution of Tc-99m methylene diphosphonate (MDP) scintimammography (MDP-SMM) to the diagnosis of breast cancer in 96 patients with 109 (52 palpable, 57 nonpalpable) breast lesions and compared them with mammography. Mammographic classification of the lesions were done as probably malignant (29), indeterminate (29) and probably benign (51). There were 23 malignant and 86 benign lesions. BACKGROUND: Bone scintigraphy (BS) is established as an accurate, non-invasive method for the diagnosis of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). In a real-life setting, however, some patients with no cardiac uptake on BS turn out to have cardiac-biopsy-confirmed ATTR-CM. We retrospectively included all patients diagnosed at the French Referral Center for ATTR-CM and who had data for BS and a cardiac biopsy.

This retrospective study was done to determine the value of combined bone (technetium-99m methylene-diphosphonate) and gallium-67 citrate imaging in selected children with complicated clinical situations. Thirty-one children were evaluated for suspected osteomyelitis by bone scan followed within 4 days by a gallium scan.
