BACKGROUND: Methotrexate (MTX) is an effective chemotherapeutic agent; however, its clinical application is limited by serious pulmonary toxicity. This study evaluated the protective effect of ambrisentan (AMB) against MTX-induced lung injury and elucidated the underlying mechanisms.

OBJECTIVES: To address if baseline endothelin-1 (ET-1) plasma levels might predict clinical worsening (CW) in patients with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension (IPAH) treated with bosentan.
METHODS: Forty-four consecutive patients with IPAH (WHO classes II-III) were included in this study.
