Saline eluates were prepared from sucrose-washed erythrocytes of cattle infected with B. bovis (= argentina). Fibrinogen, plasminogen and IgG2 were constituent proteins of the eluates and all three proteins increased in concentration during infection. BACKGROUND: Acute intravascular hemolysis is rarely associated with platelet transfusion. Out-of-group single-donor platelets may cause hemolysis if the donor has high-titer ABO hemagglutinins.
CASE REPORT: A 44-year-old woman, blood group A, was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and was receiving chemotherapy. Ultrastructural lesions of the liver were studied in 12 patients with peliosis hepatis. This vascular lesion consisted of cavities filled with red blood cells and sometimes lined with an endothelial barrier; the cavities were due to cystic dilatation of the space of Disse and/or sinusoidal lumen.
