Rosacea is a common clinical diagnosis that encompasses a variety of presentations, predominantly involving the centrofacial skin. A 43-year-old Japanese man with alcoholic liver cirrhosis developed a nodule on the face 1 year prior to presentation. Histopathological examination showed amyloid deposition in the entire dermis, with numerous plasma cells. Nodular primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis is a rare form of amyloidosis, which needs long-term follow-up because of the possibility of the development of systemic amyloidosis. Also, this type of cutaneous amyloidosis may have other complications.

Malakoplakia is a rare, chronic disease with pleomorphic presentation. It occurs most frequently in immunocompromised patients. It is believed that this entity represents an unusual response to bacterial infection in which macrophages fail to phagocytose them properly. It involves many organs, particularly the urinary and gastrointestinal tracts. It is uncommon on the skin and less common in children. The diagnosis is usually based on histopathologic findings.

Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. erinacei, the natural host of which is the hedgehog, has been found to cause highly inflammatory and pruritic eruptions, including tinea manuum, tinea corporis, nail infection, kerion, scalp infection, and tinea barbae. To our knowledge, however, no reports have been made of tinea faciei caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. erinacei in the English language literature. We provide here the case of tinea faciei caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. erinacei.

Allergic contact dermatitis is a common problem. The distribution of the eruption with which a patient presents is the key to identifying the offending agent. The ability to quickly recognize characteristic presentations of common allergens is valuable. We present a case of red plaques on the face. The distribution of these plaques pointed clearly to eyeglasses as the cause. Eyeglass frames are manufactured from various materials that have the potential to act as allergens.
