Anatomy-Guided Hybrid CNN-ViT Model with Neuro-Symbolic Reasoning for Early Diagnosis of Thoracic Diseases Multilabel.

Background/Objectives: The clinical adoption of AI in radiology requires models that balance high accuracy with interpretable, anatomically plausible reasoning. This study presents an integrated diagnostic framework that addresses this need by unifying a hybrid deep-learning architecture with explicit anatomical guidance and neuro-symbolic inference. Methods: The proposed system employs a dual-path model: an enhanced EfficientNetV2 backbone extracts hierarchical local features, whereas a refined Vision Transformer captures global contextual dependencies across the thoracic cavity. These repres

A fuzzy decision-making system for video tracking with multiple objects in non-stationary conditions.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Computer vision remains challenged by tracking multiple objects in motion frames, despite efforts to improve surveillance, healthcare, and human-machine interaction. This paper presents a method for monitoring several moving objects in non-stationary settings for autonomous navigation. Additionally, at each phase, movement information between successive frames, including the new frame and the previous frame, is employed to determine the location of moving objects inside the camera's field of view, and the background in the new frame is determined. With the help of a matching algorithm, the Kan

Hybrid meta heuristic and fuzzy impedance method for fast fault location in power system lines.

This study discusses a new and accurate fault location method for power system lines in power networks. The exact location of the fault and the distance of the line from one end are determined by training the proposed positioning system with experimental reference data. Phasor measurement units (PMUs) at one end of the power line effectively monitor the entire system. First, the types of problems are identified and categorized using the PMU measurement signals. The fault location was then diagnosed using a nonlinear modeling technique to locate the fault based on the impedance of one end. Two

A Custom EOG-Based HMI Using Neural Network Modeling to Real-Time for the Trajectory Tracking of a Manipulator Robot.

Although different physiological signals, such as electrooculography (EOG) have been widely used in the control of assistance systems for people with disabilities, customizing the signal classification system remains a challenge. In most interfaces, the user must adapt to the classification parameters, although ideally the systems must adapt to the user parameters. Therefore, in this work the use of a multilayer neural network (MNN) to model the EOG signal as a mathematical function is presented, which is optimized using genetic algorithms, in order to obtain the maximum and minimum amplitude

A risk management model for familial breast cancer: A new application using Fuzzy Cognitive Map method.

Breast cancer is the most deadly disease affecting women and thus it is natural for women aged 40-49 years (who have a family history of breast cancer or other related cancers) to assess their personal risk for developing familial breast cancer (FBC). Besides, as each individual woman possesses different levels of risk of developing breast cancer depending on their family history, genetic predispositions and personal medical history, individualized care setting mechanism needs to be identified so that appropriate risk assessment, counseling, screening, and prevention options can be determined

Digital mammography: comparison of adaptive and nonadaptive CAD methods for mass detection.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: The authors compared the performance of adaptive and nonadaptive computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) methods for breast mass detection with digital mammography. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Both adaptive and nonadaptive modular CAD methods employed recent advances in multiresolution and mutiorientation wavelet transforms for improved feature extraction. The nonadaptive method uses fixed parameters for the image preprocessing modules. The adaptive method, a new class of algorithms, adapts to image content by selecting parameters for the image preprocessing modules within a para

Cerebral hypoxia during cardiopulmonary bypass: a magnetic resonance imaging study.

BACKGROUND: Neurocognitive deficits after open heart operations have been correlated to jugular venous oxygen desaturation on rewarming from hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Using a porcine model, we looked for evidence of cerebral hypoxia by magnetic resonance imaging during CPB. Brain oxygenation was assessed by T2*-weighted imaging, based on the blood oxygenation level-dependent effect (decreased T2*-weighted signal intensity with increased tissue concentrations of deoxyhemoglobin). METHODS: Pigs were placed on normothermic CPB, then cooled to 28 degrees C for 2 hours of hypotherm

Single-Electrode, Bidirectional Control of Heart Rate via Vagus Nerve Modulation in Rat Model.

Electrical stimulation of somatic nerves has long been used as a treatment method for a wide range of diseases by increasing activity on a target nerve. Electrical nerve block is an emerging therapy that can provide the same targeted treatment by decreasing activity on the nerve. Here, we demonstrate that both of these techniques can be applied synergistically via a single electrode to achieve precise control of an autonomic system. Two electrodes were placed on the right-side rat vagus nerve. The vagus proximal to the electrodes was crushed, and the left side was cut to isolate the system. Th

Animal Models of Tourette Syndrome-From Proliferation to Standardization.

Tourette syndrome (TS) is a childhood onset disorder characterized by motor and vocal tics and associated with multiple comorbid symptoms. Over the last decade, the accumulation of findings from TS patients and the emergence of new technologies have led to the development of novel animal models with high construct validity. In addition, animal models which were previously associated with other disorders were recently attributed to TS. The proliferation of TS animal models has accelerated TS research and provided a better understanding of the mechanism underlying the disorder. This newfound suc

Fuzzy-based framework for diagnosis of acid-base disorders.

The main objective of this research is to develop a fuzzy-based framework for diagnosis of different acid-base disorders. There are several acid-base disorders that cause many clinical complications and their proper diagnosis is the only way for their efficient treatment. The common disorders are metabolic acidosis, metabolic alkalosis, non-anion gap acidosis, anion-gap acidosis, acute respiratory alkalosis and chronic respiratory alkalosis. The proposed fuzzy-based framework was used to diagnose all of these disorders using four parameters directly measured in blood: hydrogen-ion concentratio

An integrated active-passive safety strategy for automobiles based on driver state recognition and injury risk prediction.

This study proposes an integrated active-passive safety strategy based on driver state recognition and injury risk prediction, aiming to enhance vehicle safety by dynamically coordinating the operation of the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system and occupant restraint systems. First, injury prediction and driver state recognition models were developed using machine learning and deep learning techniques, respectively, based on real-world traffic accident data and physiological signals. These predictive outcomes were then incorporated into a fuzzy control algorithm to optimize the AEB syste

Non-invasive detection of coronary artery disease in high-risk patients based on the stenosis prediction of separate coronary arteries.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Cardiovascular diseases are an extremely widespread sickness and account for 17 million deaths in the world per annum. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of such diseases with an annual mortality rate of about 7 million. Thus, early diagnosis of CAD is of vital importance. Angiography is currently the modality of choice for the detection of CAD. However, its complications and costs have prompted researchers to seek alternative methods via machine learning algorithms. METHODS: The present study proposes a novel machine learning algorithm. The proposed algorithm uses

The Effect of Sleep Disorders, Sedating Medications, and Depression on Cognitive Processing Therapy Outcomes: A Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis.

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an effortful process requiring engagement in cognitive restructuring. Sleep disorders may lead to avoidance of effortful tasks and cognitive performance deficits. We explored whether sleep disorders, as assessed by polysomnography, were consistently associated with treatment response in combination with other factors. This study included 32 U.S. veterans who were examined both before and after CPT for combat-related PTSD. We employed a novel, case-comparative technique, fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fs

Minimally interactive segmentation of 4D dynamic upper airway MR images via fuzzy connectedness.

PURPOSE: There are several disease conditions that lead to upper airway restrictive disorders. In the study of these conditions, it is important to take into account the dynamic nature of the upper airway. Currently, dynamic magnetic resonance imaging is the modality of choice for studying these diseases. Unfortunately, the contrast resolution obtainable in the images poses many challenges for an effective segmentation of the upper airway structures. No viable methods have been developed to date to solve this problem. In this paper, the authors demonstrate a practical solution by employing an

Automated 3D trabecular bone structure analysis of the proximal femur--prediction of biomechanical strength by CT and DXA.

SUMMARY: The standard diagnostic technique for assessing osteoporosis is dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measuring bone mass parameters. In this study, a combination of DXA and trabecular structure parameters (acquired by computed tomography [CT]) most accurately predicted the biomechanical strength of the proximal femur and allowed for a better prediction than DXA alone. INTRODUCTION: An automated 3D segmentation algorithm was applied to determine specific structure parameters of the trabecular bone in CT images of the proximal femur. This was done to evaluate the ability of these parameters

Multilingual voice-enabled informatics tools: Catalyst for equitable AI in HIV and HIV-comorbidity healthcare management.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (henceforth HIV) is a global health problem, presently with no known cure. Africa has one of the highest incidences of HIV. Nigeria, within the West African (WA) region, is one of the largest economies on the continent. However, the country continues to struggle with HIV, with approximately 2 million individuals currently infected and experiencing ongoing transmissions. Management of the disease has been difficult due to communication barriers between English-speaking medical practitioners and indigenous patients in rural and suburban regions of the country and bor

Effect of control frequency on closed-loop electrical muscle stimulation for biceps-triceps in healthy participants: a pilot study.

The bandwidth of voluntary upper-limb movement is constrained by the inherent transmission and processing delays of the central nervous system (CNS). While spinal reflexes exhibit shorter latencies, the maximum achievable closed-loop control bandwidth of the musculoskeletal system remains poorly defined. We address this by introducing a high-speed closed-loop electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) system. By integrating high-speed machine vision with antagonistic stimulation of the biceps and triceps via a fuzzy logic controller, this platform enables closed-loop elbow joint actuation that bypass
