Circulating antigens isolated from sera of three high-microfilaraemic ( Loa loa) Gabonese patients were fractionated by gel filtration. A major component (38 kDa) was identified after SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting using sera of amicrofilaraemic patients with high level of antimicrofilariae Loa loa antibodies. Fifty-two Trichosporon strains isolated from Gabonese female patients 15-60 years, were studied. We report an outbreak investigation of two fatal cases of autochthonous Plasmodium falciparum malaria that occurred in Belgium in September 2020. Various hypotheses of the potential source of infection were investigated. Molecular screening of 300 at-risk people from Central Africa identified 2 human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV)-4-infected individuals. A zoonotic origin of infection was suggested, as both individuals reported being severely bitten by a gorilla during hunting activities.
