Pyogenic granulomas are lobular capillary hemangiomas, usually found on skin and oral mucosa. To date, few cases of pyogenic granuloma of the gastrointestinal tract have been reported, being duodenal involvement extremely rare. We report the case of a patient with a history of long-standing iron deficiency anemia where the endoscopy revealed an oozing redish semipedunculated polypoid lesion in the duodenum with a biopsy specimen consistent with a pyogenic granuloma. The lesion was removed by endoscopic resection, and during the follow-up hemoglobin level was maintained.

Background: There is a growing body of research demonstrating expression of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) by a putative embryonic stem cell (ESC)-like population within vascular anomalies. This study investigated the expression of components of the RAS in relation to the putative ESC-like population within pyogenic granuloma (PG) that we have recently reported. Methods: PG samples from 14 patients were analyzed for the expression of components of the RAS: pro-renin receptor (PRR), angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), angiotensin II receptor 1 (ATIIR1) and angiotensin II receptor 2 (ATIIR2

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a capillary hemangioma mainly found in the skin and oral mucosa, but rarely described in the esophagus. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who consulted for retrosternal pain. Endoscopic studies showed a 28-mm polypoid mass located at the distal esophageal mucosa. The patient underwent endoscopic resection, and the histopathological examination showed a neoplastic proliferation of small blood vessels growing in a lobular architecture, with edematous stroma and prominent inflammatory infiltrate. Special stains for fungus showed pseudohyphae compatible with Candid

We present the case of a 37-year-old man who presented with a penile lesion that engorged on erection. Ultrasound examination demonstrated vascularity of the lesion and the decision was made to perform a complete excision. Histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of a pyogenic granuloma of the penis. Follow-up demonstrated no recurrence at 3 months.

Pyogenic granulomas are benign vascular lesions that can result from a large number of etiological factors. Drugs are one etiological factor involved in pyogenic granuloma development. In this study we present our experience of multiple pyogenic granulomas following levothyroxine administration suggesting that levothyroxine hormone replacement therapy might play an important role in the formation of pyogenic granuloma. We also reviewed the literatures regarding drug-induced pyogenic granulomas.

Pyogenic granuloma is tumor-like proliferation to a nonspecific infection. Clinically, pyogenic granuloma presents as sessile or pedunculated exophytic mass with a smooth or lobulated surface which has a tendency to bleed easily. These lesions tend to occur slightly more in females, frequently involving the gingiva of the maxillary region. Histologically, these lesions show an excessive proliferation of vascular type of connective tissue to a nonspecific infection. The most common treatment is surgical excision with eradication of local irritants. This case report describes a pyogenic granulom

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma (PG) with satellitosis is a rare phenomenon that typically occurs in children and teenagers. It can be seen after excision or trauma to the original lesion.
OBJECTIVE: The aim is to review an atypical case of PG with satellitosis and to highlight a conservative approach to management.
METHODS: This article includes a case report of a 48-year-old woman developing PG with satellitosis in her right foot and includes a review of the literature.
RESULTS: There are few cases of PG with satellitosis in the literature. Our patient differs from most given her age and t

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-C1) and measuring the angiogenic activity by the staining for von Willebrand factor (vWF) and CD31 in oral pyogenic granulomas and hemangiomas. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the angiogenesis index between the lesions evaluated. The average microvessel density determined for MVC (microvessel count) using CD31 was 60.64 for hemangiomas and 59.64 for pyogenic granulomas, while angiogenic index determined using vWF was 64.24

PURPOSE: We report a series of pyogenic granulomas of the hand treated effectively in the office with silver nitrate cauterization.
METHODS: Twelve patients with 13 pyogenic granulomas of the hand were treated. The average duration of symptoms was 2 months. Masses were removed bluntly, pressure was held proximal to the lesion to effect hemostasis, and the base of the lesion was cauterized with silver nitrate applicators. After treatment patients were instructed to keep the lesions absolutely dry for 2 weeks.
RESULTS: Complete resolution of the pyogenic granuloma was achieved in 85% of patien

We report two cases of trauma-induced Beau's lines accompanied by pyogenic granulomas of the proximal nail folds of the affected fingers. The preceding trauma was not directly to the nail matrix but was more proximal, on the palm in one case and the arm in the other. The simultaneous occurrence of Beau's lines and pyogenic granulomas following trauma has not been reported previously in the literature.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a common reactive vascular hyperplasia of the oral cavity with multifactorial origin. Although benign, it shows clinical variability and may recur if predisposing factors persist. This report describes two oral PG cases with different etiologies. A 68-year-old man presented with a mucogingival lesion associated with dental calculus, while a 29-year-old woman developed a lesion during pregnancy that continued after delivery. Both were treated with complete surgical excision and elimination of local irritants. Histopathology confirmed PG, characterized by granulation t

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular lesion. The differential diagnosis encompasses both malignant and benign conditions. While several modalities are available for its management, only surgical options enable a histopathological diagnosis, which is crucial to rule out clinical mimickers.
OBJECTIVES: To examine paediatric patients with pyogenicgranuloma-like Spitz naevus and emphasize the importance of tissue sampling for diagnostic accuracy and optimal care.
METHODS: A retrospective single-centre study of paediatric patients with lesions clinically diagnosed as pyogenic granu

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular tumor that most often arises on the gingiva, lips, and fingers, while eyebrow involvement is exceptionally uncommon. We describe a 50-year-old woman who developed a progressively enlarging, bleeding nodule on the right eyebrow that ultimately interfered with her vision. The lesion was managed with shave excision and electrocautery, and histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of PG. The patient remained disease-free after one year of follow-up. This case underscores the importance of recognizing PG in rare anatomical locations and consider

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular neoplasm seen in the first and second decades of life, and it has a female predilection. It presents as a small reddish exophytic lesion, gingiva being the most common site. This article describes an unusual presentation of PG in a one-year-old female child and highlights the importance of its early diagnosis and management to avoid discomfort and distress in these patients. The diagnosis was verified by histological examination, which revealed significant markers such as endothelial growth, vascular abundance, and chronic inflammatory cell infiltra

BACKGROUND: A typical non-neoplastic connective tissue proliferations called a pyogenic granuloma. A vascular adhesion molecule used to assess angiogenesis is the CD34 marker. The primary memberof a family of growth factors, VEGF helps in generating and maintaining the lymphatic and blood circulation systems.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to know the correlation between VEGF and CD34 protein marker and pyogenic granuloma.
METHODS: Thirty-one formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) blocks were taken from female pyogenic granuloma patients ranging in age from 29 to 70. The IHC was used t

Nail pyogenic granulomas are common benign vascular lesions often occurring after trauma. A variety of treatment modalities exist, including topical therapies and surgical excision, although both have their pros and cons. In this communication, we describe the case of a 7-year-old boy with repeated toe trauma, who developed a large nail bed pyogenic granuloma after undergoing surgical debridement and nail bed repair. He was treated with 3 months of topical 0.5% timolol maleate, resulting in complete resolution of the pyogenic granuloma and minimal nail deformity.
