A 50-year-old woman presented with complete heart block on electrocardiogram. Echocardiogram revealed an intracardiac mass with extensive cardiac involvement. The patient was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, confirmed via lymph node biopsy. Pacemaker implantation and chemotherapy were initiated, with subsequent improvement noted. This showcases an unusual manifestation of intracardiac metastasis with conduction system infiltration.

A 41-year-old man died of meningococcemia after presenting with skin rash, fever, and bradycardia. Electrocardiograms demonstrated intermittent complete heart block, and necropsy showed myocarditis with focal necrosis of the conduction system. This syndrome should be recognized as typical for meningococcemia, and all patients with meningococcal disease should be observed carefully for the development of bradycardia.

BACKGROUND: Myocarditis has been rarely reported following COVID-19 vaccination, most commonly in younger males. Although a temporal association has been observed, establishing causality in individual cases remains challenging. Myocardial inflammation may involve the cardiac conduction system, rarely resulting in high-grade atrioventricular (AV) block. Importantly, these conduction abnormalities may be transient and resolve as the underlying inflammation improves.
CASE SUMMARY: We report a rare case of myocarditis following a COVID-19 vaccination in an elderly woman who experienced complete h

BACKGROUND: Conduction system pacing (CSP) by His bundle pacing or left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) is incorporated into Heart Rhythm Society guidelines for the management of bradycardia and cardiac resynchronization therapy. Despite increasing adoption with both lumenless leads and stylet-driven leads, concerns regarding the feasibility and safety of the extraction of CSP leads remain.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to report on the safety, feasibility, and clinical outcomes of the extraction of CSP leads.
METHODS: Patients undergoing the extraction of CSP leads from 10 internati

Catheter ablation has emerged as a pivotal therapeutic strategy for managing scar-related ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with structural heart disease (SHD). However, VT ablation can be complex and challenging because of the nature of VT circuit configurations and their interplay with the underlying SHD. This review outlines our systematic approach to VT ablation within the context of SHD, focusing on preprocedural assessment, procedural techniques, and postprocedural care. By adopting a systematic approach and leveraging technological advancements, successful VT ablation outcomes ca

Many advances in the knowledge of medical science are due to the observation of an unknown phenomenon that remains an open question. A plausible hypothesis must be demonstrated and proved through a scientific method in order to be accepted by the scientific community and the same results must be reached by following either the same or different techniques. The original case described by Rosenbaum MB et al., in this review triggered a series of anatomic and physiologic investigations with clinical and experimental observations that supported the trifascicular nature of the intraventricular cond

Failure of drugs and catheter ablation procedures for the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias is still extremely relevant. Recently, stereotactic body radiotherapy has been introduced to treat therapy refractory patients. In this systematic review (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews, CRD42019133212), we aimed to summarize electrophysiological and histopathological effects of radioablation in animals, patients, and extracted and perfused hearts. A systematic search was performed in OVID MEDLINE, OVID Embase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Scien

This paper presents a model-based approach to analyze the stability of autonomic-cardiac regulation. In the proposed approach, a low-order lumped parameter model of autonomic-cardiac regulation is used to derive the system equilibria based on the measurements of heart rate and blood pressure, and then the stability margin associated with the equilibria is quantified via the Lyapunov's stability analysis method. A unique strength of the proposed approach is that it provides a quantitative measure of autonomic-cardiac stability via a computationally efficient analysis. Therefore, by integrating
