The expression of prophenoloxidase (proPO) transcript in the tissues of the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei was studied by Northern blot, RT-PCR and in situ hybridisation. In the present study, we examined the effect of amphotericin B on larval stages (miracidia and primary sporocyst) of the helminth Schistosoma mansoni, the causative agent of human schistosomiasis.
