OBJECTIVES: Our aim was to identify the clinical characteristics which could distinguish infants who can be managed with INSURE (intubatio-surfactant-extubation) method for preventing mechanical ventilation (MV) and which could predict INSURE success or failure.
METHODS: Inborn infants with gestational age <30 weeks were Infants were categorised into three groups: (1) infants who needed MV in the delivery room; (2) infants spontaneously breathing who were treated only with NCPAP; (3) infants who were treated with INSURE method.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to estimate incidence, cost per episode of care, and US population burden of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: For women continuously enrolled in a US health plan from January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2004, medical claims were used to identify potential CIN diagnosis. Presence and grade of CIN (CIN 1, CIN 2,3, or no CIN) were verified in medical records for a randomly selected subset (n = 254). Incidence, costs, and population burden were calculated.

INTRODUCTION: Endoscopic colonic injury occurs in < 1% and may require surgical intervention. Mortality in Scandinavian studies is 0-0.06% after colonoscopy.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: All claims to the Danish Patient Insurance Corporation from 1995-2005 were analysed. Indication, procedure, injury and course were registered.

The aim of this study was to investigate insurance records for a one-year period to determine the injury frequencies and costs associated with different age groups in netball. The insurance records for all netball claims made during 1999 in Victoria were obtained from the insurer and entered into a database. The overall injury rate was 9.49 injuries per 1000 players, with 829 claims for injuries filed with the insurance company. The purpose of this study is to provide information to Italian radiologists regarding claims and patient injuries in medical malpractice claims. The assurance claims of Italian radiologists over a two-year period (1994-95) were anonymously analyzed, based on pertinent data provided by the Insurance Company of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology. We report a review of closed insurance claims for local and regional anaesthesia mishaps in the main private professional insurance companies. Twenty eight cases with extensive written documentation were discovered, spanning a 6 years interval between 1983 and 1989, involving 21 epidural, 6 spinal and 1 caudal anaesthesias, half with surgical and half obstetrical indication, and excluding all other blocks.
