We describe a case of human oral myiasis by a first-stage larva of the reindeer warble fly, Hypoderma (Oedemagena) tarandi (L.) (Diptera: Oestridae), in a 12-year-old girl. In September the patient complained of erythema, swelling and conjunctivitis of the right eyelid. Symptoms subsided spontaneously but re-occurred in October. In December she presented with acute swelling of the right corner of the mouth. Later that day a living larva protruded from this swelling. The patient had been on vacation in Norway during the previous summer months.

A follow-up study of the class antibody responses to newborn larva (NBL) antigens in individuals involved in an outbreak of human trichinellosis was carried out by ELISA assays. The data showed that similar kinetics of antibody responses of different magnitude developed in trichinellosis patients; it was low by week 3, a peak raised by week 5 and decreased from week 7 up to the end of the study. A case of asymptomatic toxocariasis in a Brazilian adopted child with hypereosinophilia is described. The diagnosis is confirmed by measuring specific IgG antibodies anti-Toxocara and, in the light of growing adoptions of children coming from low standard of living extra-European countries, the authors note the importance of investigating also on those parasitosis until today rather infrequent in our country.

The linear dermatitis of "larva currens" is a typical manifestation of strongyliasis, however is generally too unrecognized. It is observed in about 7% of cases, more frequent in white race.
