BACKGROUND: Multiple cysts of iris and ciliary body may cause many complications such as acute or chronic angle closure glaucoma.
PATIENT: We present a boy with multiple congenital cysts of the iris pigment epithelium and a voluminous cyst of the unpigmented ciliary body epithelium of the right eye. This resulted in lenticular astigmatism, concomitant strabismus divergens and subsequently to anisometropia. METHODS: Observational case report. A 35-year-old woman presented with localized inferior corneal edema associated with a white nodular lesion on the iris. The authors operated on a patient who had bilateral ocular hypotony after severe blunt ocular trauma with subsequent circular cyclodialysis and luxation of the lenses. Because of the specific situation, none of the previously reported procedures could be applied. A new surgical technique was used to circularly refixate the ciliary body ab interno. The method described here is simple and can be recommended as an alternative technique to refixate the ciliary body in all aphakic or pseudophakic eyes with persistent ocular hypotony caused by traumatic or surgically induced cyclodialysis.

To determine the visual results of conservative (non- surgical) therapy, we reviewed all our patients with genetic ectopia lentis, with and without Marfan's Syndrome.
