We investigated the number of outpatient visits in Fukushima Prefecture by patients with pathological amenorrhea and evaluated the etiology and management of the condition. OBJECTIVES: Currently, Japan has a near low incidence of tuberculosis (TB); the incidence is below 20/100,000. Considering this incidence, the medical service provision system needs to be restructured and related policies need to be revised. The Revised National Guidelines for TB Control, issued in May 2011 by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, provided the policy towards achieving a low incidence of TB. This study aims to provide suggestions for restructuring the medical service system in Japan by analyzing the systems in selected countries with low incidence.

PURPOSE: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our health systems and delivery of care and on the disruption of medical education. It has forced hospitals to move to a telehealth model for prenatal and postpartum visits and expedite discharges for postpartum patients in order to reduce exposure. We evaluated the feasibility of using universal serial bus (USB) drives for communicating medical information between parents of children receiving dialysis and medical personnel during clinical encounters. When surveyed, parents and pediatric resident physicians supported the use of USB drives and were willing to use the devices. The utilization rate of USB drives was 57%.
