A 71-year-old man with pathologically confirmed rectal cancer underwent F-FDG PET/CT before radical operation, which showed multiple nodules with low uptake in bilateral pleura and 1 solitary pulmonary nodule with slight uptake in left lung. The subpleural nodule was diagnosed as benign lesion through the biopsy. Ga-labeled fibroblast-activation-protein inhibitor PET/CT was performed for further evaluation, which showed low uptake in bilateral subpleural nodules but focally increased uptake in the nodule of left lung. This nodule was found to be a primary lung adenocarcinoma by the CT-guided b

INTRODUCTION: Meningothelial-type pulmonary nodules are benign and relatively common, often incidentally discovered in nearly half of properly sampled lobectomy specimens. Diffused pulmonary meningotheliomatosis is a very rare condition, the origin of which remains unknown.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report two cases of disseminated pulmonary meningotheliomatosis in female patients, discovered during a lobectomy for bronchopulmonary adenocarcinoma. The diagnosis was made based on the surgical specimen, which presented multiple scattered nodules measuring 1 to 6mm with no peribronchial or subpleura

Sarcoidosis is a systemic disease that is characterized with noncaseating granulomatous nodules which present in multiple organs specially lungs (90%). Incidence of masses due to Sarcoidosis in upper extremity is low and most cases present in association with involvement of pulmonary hilary lymph nodes. In this article we present a rare case of Sarcoidosis which presented as a single soft tissue mass in hand without osseous or pulmonary hillary lymph node involvement. Incidence of involvement of musculoskeletal system is 1-5 %, mostly it occurs in small bones in hands and feet. In most cases i

Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disorder of unknown cause, histopathologically characterized by the presence of non-caseating epithelioid-cell granulomas involving multiple organs, and most commonly involves the lungs and mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymph nodes (and the lymphatic systems). Although a definitive diagnosis relies on clinical and histopathological analysis, imaging plays a crucial role in early detection, lesion characterization, disease staging, and treatment response. This review focuses on imaging of pulmonary sarcoidosis, including histopathology, chest radiograph

Leiomyomas are benign tumours of smooth muscle cells that most often affect the female genital tract, but their metastasis to extra-uterine locations represent rare, yet misunderstood phenomena. The authors present a clinical case of a 42-year-old woman, who underwent a hysterectomy 15 years ago due to myomas, admitted with multiple pulmonary nodules and abdominal mass, diagnosed by imaging tests, in the context of haemoptysis. The anatomopathological exams of the pulmonary and abdominal lesions were compatible with the diagnosis of benign metastatic leiomyoma. Benign metastatic leiomyoma is a…

Herein, we present a very rare case of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL) type 2 with pulmonary metastasis which was biopsy-proven. This is a very rare type of lymphoma, and no case reports or studies of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma with pulmonary metastatic disease were found in the literature review. This 64-year-old male, who presented with an acute abdomen, was found to have a perforation. Subsequent pathology of the resected specimen showed neoplastic cells consistent with EATL type 2. Four months post-diagnosis, the patient developed shortness of breath. Positron emi

Multiple peripheral carcinoid tumors were found on lung biopsy in a 53 year old woman with an eight year history of pulmonary nodules. The biopsy specimen showed nodules varying from 1 to 7 mm in greatest diameter. The larger lesions were typical bronchial carcinoids whereas the smaller ones resembled pulmonary "tumorlets." Electron microscopy showed neurosecretory granules typical of carcinoids. The common multicentric origin of carcinoids and tumorlets from Kulchitsky cells is discussed. Pulmonary function testing revealed mild obstructive and restrictive defects, both attributed to the carc

This article was to summarize the clinical features and treatment course in patients with pulmonary cryptococcal infections with different imaging manifestations and to analyse the relevant factors. Categorical variables are described in this paper as percentages, and continuous variables are expressed as medians and quartiles or means and standard deviations. Factors associated with prolonged treatment of pulmonary cryptococcosis with different imaging manifestations were estimated via multivariable analyses with the Cox proportional hazards model. A total of 238 patients were analysed. A sig

OBJECTIVES: Pulmonary metastasectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is suitable in highly selected patients. However, complete resection is challenging in HCC patients with multiple lung metastases. We aimed to describe the clinical utility and survival outcome of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence-navigated resection of HCC lung metastases.
METHODS: From October 2015 to March 2021, 15 HCC patients with pulmonary metastasis underwent near-infra-red (NIR) fluorescence imaging thoracoscopic surgery. ICG was administered through peripheral veins preoperatively. All suspected lesions detect

Pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC) is an invasive pulmonary fungal disease caused by Cryptococcus neoformans or Cryptococcus gattii. It often pre … ecurrence of either disease. This case reminds us of the possibility of dualism in the diagnosis of multiple pulmonary nodules based on CT examination, such as the coexistence of lung carcinoma and PC. In addition, early diagnosis and treatment contribute to good prognosis.

Diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia (DIPNECH) is a rare pulmonary disease characterized by the diffuse proliferation of neuroendocrine cells in the bronchial epithelium. It is considered a preinvasive precursor to carcinoid tumors and usually presents with obstructive symptoms. We present the case of a 71-year-old female, non-smoker, with a past medical history of asthma, osteoarthritis, allergic rhinitis, and hyperlipidemia who was referred to the pulmonology clinic in view of incidental chest CT findings of multiple pulmonary nodules. Physical examination and labs we…

Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a rare disease that usually occurs in women of reproductive age. They typically have history of uter … men of reproductive age. This should be considered in the differential in patients who present with multiple pulmonary nodules, especially with a history of uterine leiomyoma. Additional stains, such as estrogen/progesterone receptors, may need to be done to confirm the diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary cryptococcosis is an uncommon cause of pulmonary nodules found by (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ((18)F-FDG PET/CT) scans. It is rarely reported but may mislead interpretation.
PURPOSE: To describe the (18)F-FDG PET/CT findings of pulmonary cryptococcosis.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The (18)F-FDG PET/CT images of seven patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis were evaluated.
RESULTS: The (18)F-FDG PET/CT exams showed single or multiple nodular lesions. The standardized uptake values (SUV) in early images varied significantly for the

Primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) is a systemic autoimmune disorder that principally affects the exocrine glands but can also affect systemic or extra-glandular sites. Approximately 65-80% of patients with Sjogren's demonstrate pulmonary involvement at the CT scan and pulmonary nodules (PNs) can be encountered as a common finding. We present the case of a 49-year-old woman admitted to the emergency department for chest pain and fever. The patient was diagnosed with pSS fourteen years prior and had never taken therapy or followed regular check-ups. At the HRTC were found PNs that were studied trou
