The histological findings in four globes obtained at autopsy from clinically uncomplicated cases with intraocular lens implants, one glass posterior chamber and three anterior chamber lenses consisting of two pupillary fixated and one "in-the-bag" fixated Binkhorst lens, are reported. Minimal changes could be detected in the tissues with which the implants were in contact. Scanning electron microscopy of the cornea in the three anterior chamber implants showed a loss of endothelial cells in the axial region of roughly 30-50%. This prospective study was designed to determine whether it is possible to visualize cerclage suture material by ultrasound and to evaluate the clinical usefulness of ultrasound examination after cervical cerclage during pregnancy. The ability of three different oral hygiene devices to remove 2-day-old bacterial deposits was evaluated on 21 young adults with healthy periodontia. Experimental design ring devices were compared relative to their ease of insertion, induction of adverse tissue reaction, and period of retention. To our knowledge, ours is the first case of applying a 3D-printed prosthetic beak to an Oriental stork (Ciconia boyciana). A stork in captivity underwent several surgeries for beak fractures, but the lower-mandible fractures failed to be repaired. Therefore, we applied a patient-specific beak prosthesis of titanium alloy and nylon. Because the prosthetic beak could not be maintained due to mandible and soft-tissue inflammation, the stork was euthanized. The results after hypospadias repair according to methods of Denis Browne and Crawford area evaluated. Chordee release was performed in 361 patients, 41 or 11% of whom had a reoperation. Urethroplasty was done in 479 patients, 372 according to Denis Browne and 107 according to Crawford. Postoperative fistula or rupture of the plasty was recorded in 27% after Denis Browne's method and in 32% after Crawford's method. Stricture formation was low (3%) in all the patients. The use of polyglycolic acid suture in hypospadias repair caused more fistulas than if nylon was used (P less than 0.05).

The authors carried out 88 sutures of the ascending colon in Wistar rats, 44 in inversion and the remainder in eversion. The suture material used was monofilament 9/0 nylon. The intestinal diameter was measured using an instrument and the healing process studied by means of the following parameters: granulocytes, oedema, fibrin, fibroblasts and re-epithelialisation of the mucosa, on histology.
