Ethylene (ethene, C2H4) was introduced into V-type crystalline starches (V-starches, namely V6- and V7-types) with different single helix contents (8.35-35.54%) by a solid encapsulation method. Calcium hydroxide forms unstable reactive nanoparticles that are stabilized when they are dispersed in ethylene glycol or 2-propanol. BACKGROUND: Adenoviruses belong to the stable nonenveloped viruses playing an important role in healthcare-associated infections mainly causing respiratory infections and epidemic keratoconjunctivitis. Hand disinfection with alcoholic preparations is therefore one of the most important measures to prevent such viral infections in hospitals and other medical settings.

Racemic 1-acetoxy-2-phenylpropane (12) and 1-acetoxy-2-(2-naphthyl)propane (33) were hydrolyzed with lipase at 35-36 degrees C for 2 and 24 h to give predominantly (S)-2-phenyl-1-propanol (11) and (S)-2-(2-naphthyl)-1-propanol (32), respectively. However, racemic 1-acetoxy-2-(1-naphthyl)propane (25) was recovered intact even when the reaction was carried out for 240 h. Methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol, at 1.5% (v/v), enhanced the growth and polysaccharide production of Ganoderma lucidum.
