Panthothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) is arare neurodegeneration caused by mutations in the pantothenate kinase (PANK2) gene, which is located on chromosome 20p13. These mutations result in iron accumulation in the brain basal ganglia leading to parkinsonism, dysarthria, spasticity, cognitive impairment, and retinopathy. A 43-year-old male patient suddenly developed freezing of gait (FOG) when making a first step, turning, or passing through a narrow path. We describe the case of an adult female with Hallervorden-Spatz disease (HSD), "eye-of-the-tiger" sign on cranial magnetic resonance imaging scan, and two mutations in the pantothenate kinase 2 (PANK2) gene. Trypsin has been claimed a new and effective treatment for venomous snake bite. We found that significant inactivation of snake venom lethal potency occurred in vitro when trypsin was incubated with venom and subsequently injected into mice. Trematodes in the genus Clinostomum develop into large metacercariae that can sometimes achieve high intensity in their second intermediate hosts, potentially causing pathology.
