We isolated a cryptic genospecies of Haemophilus influenzae referred to as 'Haemophilus quentini' in the urethra of 3 men complaining of urethritis symptoms. H. influenzae strains, which had been isolated from the urethra in 77 of 1518 men complaining of urethritis symptoms, identified by the conventional test, and stored, were re-cultured for this study. Secondary penile tumours from rectal carcinoma is a known clinical entity but can be missed unless carefully evaluated. We report a case of rectal adenocarcinoma with synchronous painless penile nodules. A patient presented with constipation and rectal bleeding. He had an anorectal growth as well as palpable nodules on his penis. Rectal biopsy yielded adenocarcinoma. We reviewed the literature on urothelial carcinoma in the prostatic urethra and prostate. We concluded that the incidence of urothelial carcinoma in the prostatic urethra and prostate is probably underestimated. Gastrointestinal duplications are a common type of congenital anomaly usually restricted to one part of the gut. Triplication of colon is a rare variation of duplication of the hindgut. Hindgut duplications are commonly associated with anomalies of other derivatives of the cloaca, namely, the lower genitourinary system. Here, we describe a child with triplication of colon with associated duplication of bladder and urethra and diphallus. The child described here is the only reported survivor with triplication.

The authors review short- and long-term clinical results of surgical treatment of extended urethral strictures and obliterations. A new vesicourethral anastomosis was created by novel technique with longitudinal suturing of the neck of the urinary bladder. A scheme of the operation is presented. Causes necessitating this plastic intervention are analysed. Variants of possible urine incontinence after operation depending on etiological cause of the stricture or obliteration of the posterior urethra in males are considered.

PURPOSE: Clean intermittent self-catheterization has been shown to be an effective method for the prevention of upper tract urinary disease in patients who are unable to void efficiently. When the urethra is not available for catheterization surgeons can construct a catheterizable channel from the appendix or retubularized bowel.
