We report a patient who underwent embolization of a varicocele for chronic testicular pain with Gianturco coils and developed increased bilateral pain. Complete pain relief was achieved by laparoscopic resection of both spermatic cords. The case provides insights into the pathophysiology of testicular pain and may suggest alternative therapies for chronic orchialgia.

Clinical, Doppler, and hormonal findings in puberal patients with unilateral and bilateral varicocele were evaluated. No correlation was found between clinical and hormonal findings. A significant increase was found in LH response to LH-RH in patients with bilateral varicocele as well as an increase in T to hCG in those with unilateral varicocele with prolonged reflux. Further longitudinal, hormonal, and Doppler studies in puberal patients might provide information about the most useful parameters to define those individuals at higher risk of having future problems.

All cases involved high resection of the spermatic vessels according to the methods of Palomo and Bernardi. Out of this group, 21 adult men aged between 20 and 29 were rechecked later on. Intragastric balloons (IGBs) are commonly used for weight loss by mechanically distending the stomach. We present a case of a 35-year-old man who developed a left-sided varicocele 1 week after IGB insertion. Imaging revealed splenic vein compression and possible thrombosis. The treatment is surgical and internationally there has been an increase in the use of a subinguinal microsurgical approach in which the veins of the spermatic cord are ligated. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate radionuclide scrotal imaging (RSI) in the diagnosis of varicocele.
