BACKGROUND: Left ventricular (LV) reverse remodeling (LVRR) after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AFCA) has not been fully described. This study investigated the predictors and clinical outcomes of LVRR after AFCA in patients with LV systolic dysfunction.
METHODS: Of 3319 consecutive patients who underwent first-time AFCA between January 2012 and October 2019, 376 with a baseline LV ejection fraction of <50% were retrospectively evaluated. BACKGROUND: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in children is a rare but devastating event, with an estimated incidence of 9 per 100 000 person-years and a survival rate of less than 10%. OHCA may be the presenting event in children with undiagnosed cardiovascular disease. A substantial proportion of adults experiencing an unexpected OHCA report previous symptoms, but whether the same is true in paediatric survivors has not been systematically evaluated previously. We present the case of a young lady with prior implanted ICD presenting with Electrical storm (ES) of short coupled ventricular fibrillation (SCVF). The clinical emergency was managed by a novel technique of fluoroscopy guided stellate ganglion ablation followed by 3D mapping guided ectopy ablation. Oversensing of extra-cardiac noise may inhibit delivery of subcutaneous cardiac implantable defibrillator (S-ICD) therapy. We report a case of diaphragmatic tetany resulting in the inhibition of S-ICD therapy at the time of defibrillator testing without the use of muscle relaxants.
