Telerehabilitation for Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (Tele-LSVT)-Loud on voice intensity and voice use in daily living in people with multiple sclerosis: A protocol for a feasibility and pilot randomized controlled study.

OBJECTIVE: Alterations in voice intensity and quality may constitute a social life limitation in people with multiple sclerosis (MS), but only 2% of cases receive speech therapy. Especially the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)-Loud is a highly effective intensive method for voice intensity, requiring subjects' repeated attendance at the clinic. Telerehabilitation may represent a feasible solution to bypass potential barriers related to speech therapy attendance, scaling up the beneficial effects of the treatment to a broader population. The proposed protocol aims to test the feasibility an

Systematic evaluation of laryngeal impairment in Sjögren's syndrome.

INTRODUCTION: Sjögren's syndrome (SjS) causes malfunction of the salivary and lacrimal glands. Consequently, patients suffer from xerostomia and keratoconjunctivitis sicca. This can further affect the voice and swallowing function resulting in an impaired quality of life. Aim of this study is the systematic evaluation of the impact on voice and swallowing-related quality of life in patients with SjS. MATERIAL AND METHODS: SjS patients were classified according to the American-European Consensus Group (AECG) criteria; antibodies to Ro (SS-A) or La (SS-B) antigens were detected, ESSPRI was comp

Long-time average spectrograms of dysphonic voices before and after therapy.

Tape recordings before and after successful voice therapy from 174 subjects with non-organic voice disorders (functional dysphonia) were analysed by long-time averaged voice spectrograms (LTAS). In female as well as in male voices there was a statistically significant increase in level in the first formant region of the spectra. In the female voices there was also an increase in level in the region of the fundamental. The LTAS were compared to the results of a perceptual evaluation of the voice qualities by a small group of expert listeners. There was no significant change of the LTAS in voice

Self-voice perception and its relationship with hallucination predisposition.

Introduction: Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) are a core symptom of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia but are also reported in 10-15% of the general population. Impairments in self-voice recognition are frequently reported in schizophrenia and associated with the severity of AVH, particularly when the self-voice has a negative quality. However, whether self-voice processing is also affected in nonclinical voice hearers remains to be specified. Methods: Thirty-five nonclinical participants varying in hallucination predisposition based on the Launay-Slade Hallucination Scale, listen
