UNLABELLED: A 57-year-old male with a history of hypertension presented with shortness of breath, intermittent substernal chest pain, subjective fevers, and a 30-pound weight loss. BACKGROUND: Ureteral injury occurs in less than 1% of blunt abdominal trauma cases, partly because the ureters are relatively well protected in the retroperitoneum. Bilateral ureteral injury is extremely rare, with only 10 previously reported cases. PURPOSE: Enterovesical fistula in patients with Crohn's disease is intractable. Although there are some reports that the enterovesical fistula were successfully treated conservatively, closure of the fistula cannot always be achieved and surgical intervention may required for those patients. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate, in a long-term follow-up of T1 high-grade bladder cancer treated in a prospective, randomized trial, whether fluorescence diagnosis (FD) increases recurrence-free survival (RFS) or reduces progression to muscle-invasive stages.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In all, 191 patients with suspected superficial bladder cancer were treated with transurethral resection under white light (WL) or with FD; 46 presented with initial T1 high-grade BC (WL, 25; FD, 21). PATIENTS AND METHODS: From 1987 to 1996, artificial sphincters were implanted for urinary incontinence after prostatic surgery, consisting of one transvesical prostatectomy, 11 prostatic resections and 4 radical prostatectomies. A total of 32 female patients with urinary stress incontinence who underwent a Stamey endoscopic bladder neck suspension were clinically and urodynamically studied pre- and postoperatively. Screening for urinary tract infection was carried out in 23,427 schoolgirls, aged 5 to 14 years, using Uricult and, for hematuria, glycosuria and proteinuria using Hema-combistix.
