OBJECTIVE: Coagulopathy is a significant contraindication for neurosurgery. Unfortunately, many coagulopathic patients require urgent neurosurgical intervention. Standard use of blood products, including fresh-frozen plasma or prothrombin complexes, to correct the coagulopathy often leads to significant delays in treatment.
