We report a 25 years old woman with a four years history of end stage renal disease on hemodialysis. During the last two years of follow up, multiple tender nodules appeared in the left clavicle and ribs. These were diagnosed as brown tumors, secondary to osteitis fibrosa cystica, in the context of a secondary hyperparathyroidism. Diabetic mastopathy is a rare condition that occurs in type I diabetic patients and that may mimic a breast cancer due to its intense fibrosis and inflammation. We report a 34 years old female consulting for a firm, painless and mobile retroareolar breast lump measuring 3.5 x 4 cm, that lead to the suspicion of a breast cancer. Mammography, mammary ultrasound and fine needle cytology were unspecific. A core biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of diabetic mastopathy. The patient continues under periodical assessments.

A known hemophiliac B male (blood coagulation factor IX level of 15%), HIV negative, in whom a Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic myeloid leukemia developed at the age of 29 years, is presented. Spontaneous hemoperitoneum secondary to intraabdominal variceal rupture, is an uncommon and highly lethal complication of cirrhosis. We report a case of a 68 years old male submitted because of abdominal pain and fainting. The clinical and laboratory work up concluded that the patient had cirrhosis and hemoperitoneum. He was operated on and the exploration showed a massive hemoperitoneum caused by bleeding gastrosplenic varices. The patient died in the immediate postoperative period.

Cardiopulmonary extracorporeal assistance is a high complexity procedure for patients with acute respiratory failure, who have failed conventional ventilatory support. A 30 years old female patient with bacterial endocarditis and congestive cardiac failure subjected to cardiac surgery presented severe hypoxemia, right heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, and failed conventional treatment. Cardiopulmonary support with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) reverted the pathophysiologic alterations allowing a successful recovery.
