The purpose of this study is to examine the association between parental socio-economic status (SES) and childhood neurocognition and behavior in children with chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS). Although undoubtedly, the deletion of genes in the 22q11.2 interval is primarily responsible for the psychological manifestations, little is known about the role of the environment in either mitigating or contributing to these problems. We examined the association of parental socio-economic status (SES) with cognition and behavior in children with 22q11DS (n = 65) and matched healthy contr

With an ever-increasing demand on blood supplies worldwide, there is an immense need to ensure a safe and sufficient supply of blood products. However, recruiting and retaining blood donors remain key challenges for blood agencies. In an attempt to address these problems, researchers have identified a range of sociodemographic, organizational, physiological, and psychological factors that influence people's willingness to donate blood. Although past research has largely focused on donor recruitment, in particular, demographic variables associated with blood donation behavior, the issue of dono

INTRODUCTION: Tobacco consumption is a leading cause of mortality globally. Eighty percent of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Despite this, there is a large treatment gap due to both demand and supply-side barriers. Digital interventions are an innovative solution to bridge this gap. We describe the systematic development of ToQuit, a text-messaging intervention for tobacco cessation in India.
AIMS AND METHODS: ToQuit was developed in sequential steps: (1) Identifying Behaviour Change Techniques (BCTs) from evidence-based tobacco cessation interventions; (2) Identifyin

IMPORTANCE: Physical activity can improve clinical outcomes among people with neurological conditions; however, people with these conditions rarely engage in recommended levels of activity. Remote monitoring (RM) with the incorporation of behavior change strategies is purported to be an effective approach to promote increased physical activity in the home setting, however, its effectiveness in promoting activity for people with neurological conditions is unclear.
OBJECTIVES: The objectives of this review were to examine the effectiveness of behaviorally informed RM interventions on physical a

BACKGROUND: The birth of a preterm infant is considered a crisis for the mother and the family. Given the significance of breastfeeding for these high-risk infants, failure to initiate and maintain exclusive breastfeeding in this group of infants is a prevalent and serious problem. The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of Theory of Planned Behavior based intervention on breastfeeding patterns of the mothers with preterm infants: a randomized trial.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a field trial conducted in Isfahan, Iran in 2021-2022. It included 72 mothers of late preter

Due to the demand for increasing trainload and enhancing some existing heavy-haul railways, the low reserve value of bearing capacity is a problem for the 32 m-span simply supported beam. The fatigue behavior of prestressed concrete beams in a heavy-haul railway loaded by 33 t and larger axle weight of trains was experimentally investigated. The experimental results of the fatigue behaviors, including fatigue deformation, crack propagation behavior, and strains of classical materials were obtained and analyzed. A fatigue behavior assessment model was established to investigate the residual sti

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer is a global public health problem & is the fourth leading cause of cancer morbidity and mortality. Abnormal cervical lesion is common in commercial sex workers and is at a higher risk of developing cervical cancer due to multiple sexual partners besides other factors. Intention is an important predictor of behavior and is an initiative to transform their desire into action. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the predictors of intention to receive cervical cancer screening among commercial sex workers in Gondar city, northwest Ethiopia.

UNLABELLED: Many suicidal people do not receive professional assistance due to economic problems, the desire to autonomously solve the problem, or the stigma. Internet and Mobile-based Interventions (IMIs) can overcome many of these obstacles, offering flexible and accessible interventions. We conducted a narrative literature review about the characteristics of IMIs focused on suicide risks. We studied their efficacy and some examples of applications and websites used to prevent and treat suicide risk.
METHOD: Literature research was conducted on Pub Med and PsycINFO databases.
RESULTS: IMIs

Early signs of anger and aggression can be identified in infancy. Our aim was to use person-centered methods to identify which infants were most at risk for clinically significant behavioral problems by age 3 and diagnoses of ODD/CD by 7 years, while considering the role of family risk factors and positive parenting. A representative British community sample of 304 infants was assessed by multiple informants at mean ages of 6, 21, and 36 months of age. Latent Transition Analysis (LTA) identified three ordered subgroups at each age, with one subgroup (18%) displaying high levels of physical for

BACKGROUND: The AARS2 gene encodes a mitochondrial alanyl-transfer RNA synthetase. Defects in this gene have been linked with autosomal recessive inheritance of a variety of different clinical phenotypes.
CASE: A 13 year-old boy developed behavioral and psychiatric problems following a mild head injury. At age 21 he developed tremor, parkinsonism, and eye nystagmus. MRI revealed white matter changes consistent with a leukoencephalopathy. Genetic studies revealed two pathogenic mutations in the AARS2 gene (c.647dupG and c.595C > T).
LITERATURE REVIEW: Only 47 cases of AARS2-associated disorde

We provide a detailed clinical and molecular analysis of 2 patients with de novo interstitial duplications at 2p14-p16.1 and 2p16.1-p22.1. The 10.13-Mb duplication of chromosome 2p14-p16.1 was identified in a 9-year-old boy with mental retardation, behavioral problems (hyperactivity, hyperphagia, and subsequent vomiting), recurrent respiratory tract infections, macrocephaly, epilepsy, and dysmorphic features. The 17.49-Mb duplication of 2p16.1-p22.1 was found in a 17-year-old girl with moderate mental retardation, behavioral and emotional problems, anxiety, and facial dysmorphic features. Very

Prader-Willi syndrome, first described in 1956, is characterized by marked hypotonia, hyperphagia, severe obesity, short stature, hypogonadism, orthopedic problems, breathing-related sleep disorders, mild to moderate mental retardation and behavioral abnormalities. The incidence of this syndrome, an expression of a genetic imprinting error in chromosome 15, is 1:10,000-1:25,000. We describe the medical, emotional and cognitive parameters of 34 patients in our multidisciplinary clinic for Prader-Willi syndrome. Their ages range from 5 months to 40 years and 20 are males.
