A patient with pulmonary sarcoidosis had evaluation of hemoptysis. A CT scan of the chest showed bilateral upper lobe cavities and five separate mycetomas with air-crescent signs. Bronchial washings were positive on stains for fungal elements, and all cultures grew Pseudallescheria boydii. We have not seen a previous report of multiple fungus balls due to P boydii demonstrated by chest CT.

In a patient properly treated for a previous cavitary tuberculosis, we had the surprise, after hemoptyses, to find a sleigh-bell shaped picture suggesting an intra-cavitary aspergilloma with a very special mycosis with Allescheria Boydii. Proof was provided by the presence of the fungus in direct examination and in culture in bronchial secretions. The Drechslera state of Cochiobolus spicifer, Nelson 1964, was isolated from a case of keratomycosis. The patient, a 19 year old man, showed a large corneal ulcer with hypopyon associated with the introduction of dust. The direct examination of several scrapings revealed dark-brown hyphae. This species has been reported as a casual agent of a nodular granulomatous mass in the foot of a cat and in the skin of a horse.
