In the past 20 years, there has been an increasing interest in human papillomaviruses (HPV) because of their potential role in the pathogenesis of malignant tumors. In 1983, we published the first evidence that HPV might be involved in oral squamous cell carcinomas. This article describes an 11-year-old patient in whom infective endocarditis developed after the occurrence of a dental abscess associated with a dens in dente affecting the maxillary left lateral incisor. Dens in dente has not been reported in the literature previously as a source of infection associated with infective endocarditis. A prolonged period of hospitalization was required to control the infective endocarditis, which was caused by a strain of nutritionally deficient streptococci.

CAR T-cells are approved for the treatment of relapsed and refractory leukemia and lymphoma. Here, we studied the infectious complications in 88 patients treated with CD28-based CD19 CAR T-cells. We summarize the first reported case of acquired lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) infection in Michigan to be investigated by public health authorities and provide evidence of the focal nature of LCMV infection in domestic rodents. Listeriosis is a rare, but serious, foodborne infection which, in the invasive form, presents as bloodstream (BS) infection, an infection of the central nervous system (CNS), a maternofetal infection or a focal infection.
