Folliculotropic mycosis fungoides (FMF) is an uncommon and potentially aggressive form of cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL). Phototherapy, radiotherapy, and systemic chemotherapy are the most commonly employed treatment options, but may have limited success and common adverse reactions. Bexarotene gel is a topical retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist with activity on the follicular unit that has not been previously reported in the management of FME The case of a 73-year-old male with FMF that responded to bexarotene gel is presented.

PURPOSE: In this study, we produced a rabbit model and investigated the safety of intravitreous injection of a thermo-setting gel (TG) to determine whether TG can be used as artificial vitreous.
METHODS: Ten male Japanese white rabbits were used. After performing vitrectomy in a unilateral eye, we injected 1 ml of WTG-127 into the vitreous cavity. The contralateral control eye was not given ophthalmic solution or surgery. Each eye was examined and intraocular pressure (IOP) and the electroretinogram (ERG) were evaluated. On day 28, all eyes were enucleated and examined.

There are two reasons for radiologic evaluation of the augmented breast. Because women with implants are at the same risk for breast cancer as other women, imaging is performed to screen for cancer or to work up clinical abnormalities. Additionally, imaging allows assessment of implant integrity. The various methods for imaging implants and breast tissue in the augmented patient are discussed. Imaging findings suggestive of silicone gel implant rupture are presented.

Migration of silicone beyond the breast implant capsule may occur as a result of silicone bleed, leak, or rupture, and it may indicate failure of implant envelope integrity. We report a series of 23 patients with silicone implants who had axillary lymph node biopsies for palpable masses. Group 1 (n = 15) had biopsies performed an average of 6 years following aesthetic augmentation, and Group 2 (n = 8) had biopsies performed an average of 5 years after mastectomy reconstruction. Rifamycin oxidase of Curvularia lunata was immobilized on alginate gel. The pH and temperature optima of the immobilized enzyme preparation were 6.5 and 50 degrees C, respectively. Transformation reaction was carried out with the immobilized enzyme preparation. It took 8 h for the complete transformation of rifamycin B (10 g/L) to rifamycin S. The immobilized enzyme preparation was found to be mechanically weak even in the presence of CaCl2 in the reaction mixture. Reusability studies showed that the catalyst can not be repeatedly used very effectively.

The cuticular plate is a network of actin filaments found in hair cells of the cochlea. In the alligator lizard, it consists of rootlets, emanating from the stereocilia, and of cross-connecting actin filaments that anchor these rootlets.
