A psychosocial study was carried out on 10 out of the 18 HIV positive persons who were under surveillance and receiving counselling at either Middle Road Hospital or the Communicable Disease Centre in February 1988. Data concerning 292 neurologic complications of AIDS were supplied by ten Departments of Neurology of Spanish hospitals. The period of study was from june 1984 to june 1988. Using AIDS surveillance data, we analyzed trends and correlates of outpatients AIDS diagnosis in Oregon and Washington. The proportion of outpatient diagnoses rose from 24% of cases in 1987 to 51% in 1990. We report a case of colonic pneumocystosis in a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive homosexual male who presented with fever and diarrhea. Stool cultures for bacterial pathogens and examinations for ova and parasites were negative.
