Mixed salines, 3-methacryloxypropylsilytriisocyanate and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane, were used as primers for adhesion of poly(methyl methacrylate) to porcelain teeth, precious alloys and nonprecious alloys. After thermocycle testing, the mean bond strength of the resin to porcelain, silver alloys and stainless steel were excellent. Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres were used as an embolic agent to reduce the vascularity in eight patients with intracranial vascular tumours. Post embolization angiograms showed 30-60% reduction in the vascularity of the tumours. No patient developed any neurological complications in the immediate post-embolization period. Seventy-two open fractures associated with arterial injury requiring vascular repair (Gustilo type IIIC injuries) were treated at the University of Louisville from May 1983 and through 1992. 54 wartime trauma patients injured by bombs, shell splinters or rockets were treated between 1985 and 1989 in the Orthopaedic Clinic of RWTH Aachen. Lesions of the lower limbs were dominating (78%). OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the long-term outcomes of apical surgery using intermediate restorative material (IRM) and hydraulic calcium silicate cements (HCSCs) as root-end filling materials.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Apical surgery was performed between 2012 and 2020. Of the 336 teeth initially treated, 137 met the final inclusion criteria. Periapical healing was classified as complete, incomplete, uncertain, or unsatisfactory. Root-end filling material erosion was assessed radiographically using the Erosion Index (EI), ranging from 0 to 4.
RESULTS: The mean follow-up period was 6.6 ± 2.7 years.
