Dysfunctional Cognition and Work-Related Outcomes: A Systematic Literature Review.

This systematic literature review synthesizes and integrates research on dysfunctional cognition (DC) in organizational settings, addressing the lack of a coherent model explaining how cognitive vulnerabilities shape work-related outcomes. Following the PRISMA guidelines, we analyzed 41 manuscripts (selected from more than 4523 initial and secondary search hits), leading to an integrative model of DC at work. Results show that DC is activated by job demands, alongside other demanding situational and contextual features. The model specifies maladaptive appraisal processes as the cognitive-affec

A Harm Reduction Approach to Treating Opioid Use Disorder in an Independent Primary Care Practice: a Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Stigma is a barrier to the uptake of buprenorphine to treat opioid use disorder. Harm reduction treatment models intend to minimize this stigma by organizing care around non-judgmental interactions with people who use drugs. There are few examples of implementing buprenorphine treatment using a harm reduction approach in a primary care setting in the USA. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative study by interviewing leadership, staff, and external stakeholders at Respectful, Equitable Access to Compassionate Healthcare (REACH) Medical in Ithaca, NY. REACH is a freestanding medical pra

Climate change and planetary health collaborations in the context of an occupational therapy telehealth intervention for families of children and youth with special health care needs.

Families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) have been insufficiently considered in research about the health effects of climate change. Using a planetary health lens, we discuss this issue in the context of specific interprofessional collaborations around climate change, equity, and health promotion in New Hampshire. We present an organizational case series reflecting these inter-related collaborative initiatives, centered around an occupational therapy (OT) telehealth intervention for families of CYSHCN. This case series showcases interprofessional dialogue and know

The Current State of Acute Care Surgery Workforce and Practice Models: A Joint Statement by the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Western Trauma Association.

Acute care surgery (ACS) is a specialty that includes trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. It has become a vital surgical specialty in the United States, providing surgical services, rescue functions, disaster response, and other important services. Despite its key role in patient care and hospital operations, ACS faces challenges to its sustainability. This overview targets readers who wish to understand the structure and scope of ACS and who work with or manage these practices. The goal is to provide an overview of ACS, its current challenges, and suggestions for de

A rapid review of the evidence on models of service delivery for correctional centre-based mothers and children's units: does our approach need to change?

BACKGROUND: Incarcerated mothers are a marginalised group who experience substantial health and social disadvantage and routinely face disruption of family relationships, including loss of custody of their children. To support the parenting role, mothers and children's units (M&Cs) operate in 97 jurisdictions internationally with approximately 19 000 children reported to be residing with their mothers in custody-based settings. AIM: This rapid review aims to describe the existing evidence regarding the models of service delivery for, and key components of, custodial M&Cs. METHOD: A systemati

A quantitative evaluation of a qualitative risk assessment framework: Examining the assumptions and predictions of the Productivity Susceptibility Analysis (PSA).

Qualitative risk assessment frameworks, such as the Productivity Susceptibility Analysis (PSA), have been developed to rapidly evaluate the risks of fishing to marine populations and prioritize management and research among species. Despite being applied to over 1,000 fish populations, and an ongoing debate about the most appropriate method to convert biological and fishery characteristics into an overall measure of risk, the assumptions and predictive capacity of these approaches have not been evaluated. Several interpretations of the PSA were mapped to a conventional age-structured fisheries

Heard and valued: the development of a model to meaningfully engage marginalized populations in health services planning.

BACKGROUND: Recently, patient engagement has been identified as a promising strategy for supporting healthcare planning. However, the context and structure of universalistic, "one-size-fits-all" approaches often used for patient engagement may not enable diverse patients to participate in decision-making about programs intended to meet their needs. Specifically, standard patient engagement approaches are gender-blind and might not facilitate the engagement of those marginalized by, for example, substance use, low income, experiences of violence, homelessness, and/or mental health challenges-hi

Human resources and models of mental healthcare integration into primary and community care in India: Case studies of 72 programmes.

BACKGROUND: Given the scarcity of specialist mental healthcare in India, diverse community mental healthcare models have evolved. This study explores and compares Indian models of mental healthcare delivered by primary-level workers (PHW), and health workers' roles within these. We aim to describe current service delivery to identify feasible and acceptable models with potential for scaling up. METHODS: Seventy two programmes (governmental and non-governmental) across 12 states were visited. 246 PHWs, coordinators, leaders, specialists and other staff were interviewed to understand the progra

Implementing a specialty electronic medical record to document a life-course developmental model and facilitate clinical interventions in spina bifida clinics.

This article describes the utility of a spina bifida-specific electronic medical record (SB EMR). Standardization and pooling of data through the SB EMR will facilitate development of increased knowledge for advancing interventions for SB treatment, rehabilitation, and support. Integration with a Web-based transition tool will enhance the efficiency and efficacy of interventions delivered by clinicians. The SB EMR may also be used by SB clinic staff to manage and monitor the developmental course SB through childhood and the adolescent years. Further, implementation of the SB EMR in conjunction

Factors affecting productive efficiency in primary care clinics.

This study examines factors affecting the productive efficiency of primary care clinics. The empirical analysis uses a single-stage stochastic frontier regression model, in which factors affecting productive efficiency are specified as part of the inefficiency error component and estimated simultaneously with the production function. The study population includes primary care clinics in the US Military Health System from 1999 through 2003; the analytical data set is an unbalanced panel of 442 observations. The study's main results were that primary care clinics not associated with medical cent

Youth gambling problems: a public health perspective.

Problem gambling has recently emerged as a significant public health issue. While most efforts target adult pathological gamblers, there is growing concern that adolescents and young adults represent the highest risk group for gambling problems. Prevailing public health initiatives addressing youth problem gambling are only beginning to be examined. Drawing upon the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion as a guiding framework, a prevention model and framework for action are presented to better understand and address problem gambling from a population-based perspective. This framework applies den

How Can Organizational Leaders Help? Examining the Effectiveness of Leaders' Support During a Crisis.

Organizational leaders can make a large, positive impact on their employees during crises. However, existing research demonstrates that social support is not always effective in helping employees cope with stress, and existing research has not fully identified features of support attempts that determine their effectiveness. Using mixed methods, the authors investigate the efficacy of organizational leaders' support efforts during a crisis. In the first study, 571 employees (196 university administrative staff, 192 licensed nurses, and 183 licensed engineers) described actions their leaders eng

The impact of workplace violence on occupational well-being of nursing staff: the moderating role of coping styles.

BACKGROUND: Nursing staff consistently work in high-stress environments, and workplace violence has become a significant risk factor affecting their occupational well-being. However, the underlying mechanisms of this relationship remain to be fully elucidated. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted. From February to March 2025, a survey was administered to 9,466 nursing staff from over 50 hospitals in Lanzhou City using stratified convenience sampling. Spearman correlation analysis and hierarchical regression models were employed to examine the relationships among variables and to tes

Factors influencing the amount of therapy received during inpatient stroke care: an analysis of data from the UK Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme.

OBJECTIVES: To understand why most stroke patients receive little therapy. We investigated the factors associated with the amount of stroke therapy delivered. METHODS: Data regarding adults admitted to hospital with stroke for at least 72 hours (July 2013-July 2015) were extracted from the UK's Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme. Descriptive statistics and multilevel mixed effects regression models explored the factors that influenced the amount of therapy received while adjusting for confounding. RESULTS: Of the 94,905 patients in the study cohort (mean age: 76 (SD: 13.2) years, 78% h

Current situation, strengths and problems in intra- and interprofessional collaboration in German nursing homes - A holistic multiple case study.

BACKGROUND: The increasing care complexity of nursing home residents living with dementia requires new care models that strengthen professional collaboration. To contribute to the sustainable implementation of new care models, it is important that they are linked to the care reality. However, little is known about intra- and interprofessional organization and provision of care in German nursing homes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the current care situation, problems and strengths regarding intra- and interprofessional collaboration in the care of residents living with dement

Editorial and research agenda: JBR special issue on business model innovation in social purpose organizations.

In this introduction to the special issue on business model innovation (BMI) among social purpose organizations (SPOs), we define business models, BMI, and SPOs, and introduce the insights that papers in this special issue contribute to scholarly knowledge at the intersection of SPOs and BMI. We aggregate insights from articles in the special issue to provide insights into the major antecedents of BMI (environmental turbulence, and internal drivers), the substance of BMI (collaboration, managing tensions, and developing dynamic and learning capabilities), and the outcomes of BMI (expansion of

Anti-amyloid therapies and the transformation of Alzheimer's care pathways: early lessons from the frontline.

The introduction of anti-amyloid monoclonal antibodies marks a major shift in Alzheimer's disease (AD) care, moving treatment toward biological modification and reshaping diagnostic and organizational models. At the Center for Alzheimer's and Related Diseases (CARD), IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital (Milan, Italy), among the first European tertiary centers to initiate both lecanemab and donanemab, we developed a structured fast-track pathway to support timely and safe access to therapy. Our early real-world experience highlights three critical domains. First, patient selection requires integration
