Rhabdomyosarcoma is the malignant neoplasm of striated muscle and a relatively uncommon tumor of the oral cavity. Embryonal variety is the most common subtype, observed in children below 10 years of age but occasionally seen in adolescents and young adults. The present report describes a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the left posterior buccal mucosa, with extension in the adjacent alveolus, soft palate, oropharynx and nasopharynx of a 17-year-old female.

CONTEXT: Pancreatic injuries caused by blunt trauma are often treated conservatively, except for the highest grades of these.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of complete transection of the distal pancreas in a young adult which was successfully managed by spleen-preserving laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy followed by an islet autotransplantation in the patient's forearm striated muscle.
CONCLUSION: We describe a mini-invasive approach for pancreatectomy with restoration of resected islets to the patient.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a soft tissue tumor of striated muscle origin. It is observed mainly in children and adolescents. Rhabdomyosarcoma predominantly occurs in three regions: head and neck, genito-urinary tract and retroperitoneum, and upper and lower extremities. We report a case of primary alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of the mesentery occurring in a 68-year-old man. Rhabdomyosarcomas can be diagnosed on microscopic findings and immunohistochemical features. Cytogenetic findings can be helpful in the diagnosis.

Three types of colonic sphincter substitutes were placed at an abdominal colostomy in dogs. Simple valve construction (8) was based on orthograde intussusception of the colon over 3.5 cm. The progressive denervation of the striated pelvic sphincter musculature is due to repeated stretch injury of the innervation of these muscles when the pelvic floor diaphragm is weak. Electromyography examination, evoked potentials and perineal nerve motor latency confirmed perineal neurogenic abnormalities.
