We present a case of an otherwise healthy infant with a localized patch of phylloid hypopigmentation bordered by terminal hairs on the back. We believe that this is a unique clinical entity and propose the term "phylloid terminal hair nevus." We believe that this is a localized form of phylloid hypomelanosis that is not associated with extracutaneous abnormalities.

OBJECTIVE: Tissue expansion is the preferred technique for the treatment of giant congenital melanocytic nevus (GCMN) located on the face, abdomen, and legs. We believe that the use of multiple tissue expanders in the same surgery is a safe and effective technique for the treatment of GCMN.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 14 patients were treated between 2013 and 2016 for GCMN removal with placement in the same surgery of 3 or more tissue expanders. We analyzed esthetic results and complications.
RESULTS: The locations of the GCMN on the 14 patients were on the abdomen, thigh, and shoulder…

Becker nevus syndrome (BNS) is a rare epidermal nevus syndrome characterized with Becker nevus and ipsilateral breast gland hypoplasia or other skin, skeletal and/or muscle tissue disorders. A 24-year-old woman presented with brown, irregular bordered patch with a diameter of approximately 10 cm which consisted of several small macules on the left breast skin. The ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed left breast hypoplasia. Histopathological examination demonstrated minimal acanthosis, papillomatosis, increase in basal layer melanin and hypertrophy of the erector pili muscle…

An 18-year-old woman was admitted to our clinic complaining of pruritic lesions on her inguinal and genital areas that had been present sinc … topathological findings, the patient was considered to have inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus, and cryotherapy was initiated. At the 2-week follow-up after the first application, it was observed that the itching complaint decreased substantially and the eroded lesions in the intergluteal area were re-epithelialized. On clinical follow-up, no …

Acquired melanocytic lesions resembling malignant melanoma have been described in all major categories of Epidermolysis bullosa and referred to as "Epidermolysis bullosa nevi''. They easily induce to diagnostic error, although no malignant transformation has been reported. We report the development of a large acquired melanocytic nevus at a site of recurrent blisters in a 5-year-old child with Epidermolysis bullosa simplex. The global dermoscopic pattern was suggestive of benignity, and the histopathological findings were compatible with a compound melanocytic nevus. This is the first publishe…

Eight cases of the acanthosis nigricans form of epidermal nevus have been described in literature. The present case is impressive and has an extensive segmental distribution. Although etiological factors, such as mutations in the FGFR3 gene, are becoming recognized, treatment options remain limited. We present a case of a 14-year-old male with multiple hyperpigmented, hyperkeratotic plaques on the upper body, axillae, and groin with a segmental distribution following Blaschko lines. Histopathological investigation showed aspects of both acanthosis nigricans and epidermal nevus. So far, screeni…

Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus Syndrome (BRBNS) is a rare angiomatosis characterized by distinctive cutaneous and gastrointestinal venous malformations that result in gastrointestinal haemorrhage and iron-deficiency anaemia secondary to the bleeding episodes. We hope to emphasize the possibility of recurrent melaena in BRBNS and heighten physicians' awareness about the disease to contribute to its early detection.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant disorder that primarily affects the development and growth of neural cell tissues. It causes tumors to grow on nerves and produces other abnormalities such as skin changes and bone deformities. Dysplastic nevus syndrome (DNS) represents multiple atypical nevi associated with polygenetic inheritance pattern and may rarely occur together with NF-1. DNS type A is a marker of increased melanoma risk, while melanoma has been rarely reported in patients with NF-1. We describe a case of NF-1 type A with DNS presenting with multiple neural tumor…

INTRODUCTION: Basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS), also known as Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, comprises five main pathological features: nevoid basal cell carcinomas, keratocystic odontogenic tumors, congenital skeletal anomalies, calcification of the falx cerebri, and point skin depressions on the palms and/or soles. The disease exhibits a dominant autosomal hereditary trait, with implication of the human homologue of the Drosophila segment polarity Patched (PTCH) gene. BCNS is diagnosed on the basis of clinical and radiological criteria and can be confirmed by genetic study. The patient prognosis is …

Being non-hair-bearing and relatively thin and having similar color and texture of the skin of the forehead provide an excellent characteristic not only for nasal reconstruction but also in other facial areas. A 28-year-old man presented in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Argerich Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a giant congenital melanocytic nevus extended on complete left cheek, total nose, both upper and lower lids, ocular globe, and temporoparietal region. Tumor resection and reconstructive aspect were planned in 3 stages. (1) Excision of the tumor located in the cheek, nose, an…

Nevus sebaceus (NS) is a congenital skin lesion arising on the face and scalp that has been linked to the development of various carcinomas. We describe a case of microcystic adnexal carcinoma (MAC) arising in an NS on the scalp of a 62-year-old man. Excisional skin biopsy and hematoxylin and eosin stains were performed to examine the specimen. Serial sections revealed papillomatosis typical of NS, with focal changes consistent with syringocystadenoma papilliferum. Adjacent to the syringocystadenoma papilliferum was an area containing small epithelial islands that extended focally into the sub…

PURPOSE: To report a rare case of linear nevus sebaceous syndrome in a little Chinese girl with a new ocular finding.
METHODS: Case report. The clinical manifestations, ophthalmic features and central nervous system abnormalities associated with this neurocutaneous syndrome are presented.
RESULTS: A little girl, aged 1 year and 8 months, had several linear or oval nevi on her forehead and parietal scalp. Three round well-defined subcutaneous masses, approximately 1 cm in size, were present on the occipital, parietofrontal and right mastoid region, respectively. A round choroidal hemangioma, …

We present a rare case of choroidal suspicious naevi, associated with a secondary serous retinal detachment, at a young patient, 26 years old. It is also outlined the difficulty of a differential diagnosis and the importance of an appropriate therapeutic approach.

BACKGROUND: Nevus sebaceus (NS) of Jadassohn is a common congenital lesion associated with numerous benign and malignant tumors. However, mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) has not been described in association with NS.
METHODS: We describe an unusual case of MEC arising within NS.
RESULTS: A 72-year-old man presented with an enlarging plaque on his forehead, along the hairline. Physical examination revealed a mounded, erythematous lesion that was completely excised. Histological evaluation revealed a typical MEC with areas of squamous and adenomatous differentiation with foci of typical interme…
