OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of teacher tablets in the treatment of pharyngitis.
METHOD: One hundred and thirty six patients with acute pharyngitis or chronic pharyngitis in attack were randamly divided into two groups: treated group (n=68), the patients were given teacher tablets for 7 days, control group (n=68), the patients were given Qinlian capsule for 7 days. Before and after the experimental medicine-taking test, general condition, clinical symptoms and features of examinations on laryngo-pharynx, throat swab bacterial culture were measured.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate clinical manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of orbital natural killer (NK)-T cell lymphoma.

OBJECTIVE: Transsphenoidal surgery is the treatment of choice for nonfunctioning pituitary macroadenomas (NFMA). In this study we evaluated the long-term effects of a treatment strategy in which postoperative radiotherapy was not routinely applied to patients with NFMA.
DESIGN: This was a retrospective follow-up study.

OBJECTIVE: Evaluate factors affecting outcomes of small acoustic neuroma (AN) removal via a middle cranial fossa (MCF) approach, and compare results to published data on observation and radiation therapy.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective chart review.
SETTING: Academic tertiary referral center.
METHODS: 162 consecutive patients (ages 19-70) with unilateral AN (0.2-2.5 cm in largest dimension) removed through a MCF approach were reviewed focusing on preservation of hearing, facial nerve function and complications. OBJECTIVE: To select a safe, quick and effective method for terminating ectopic pregnancy (EP) with few adverse effects.
METHODS: Patients were divided into 2 groups. The observed group was treated with methotrexate (MTX, 50 mg/m2 for single dose intramuscular injection) plus RU 486 (600 mg taken orally in the morning with empty stomach, followed with fasting for 2 hrs) and Waiyun Zhuyu decoction (WZD, one dose a day for 7-10 days). Recently, cavitation on the surface of mechanical heart valves (MHVs) has been studied as a cause of fractures occurring in implanted MHVs. In the present study, we investigated the mechanism of MHV cavitation associated with the Björk-Shiley valve and the Medtronic Hall valve in an electrohydraulic total artificial heart (EHTAH). OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effect of Xiaobai Mixture (XBM) in treating vitiligo.
METHODS: Seventy-four patients with vitiligo were randomly divided into the XBM group treated with XBM and the control group treated with 8-MOP. The therapeutic effect, nail-fold microcirculation, plasma endothelin-1, serum immunoglobulin were observed and compared.
RESULTS: The therapeutic effect of XBM was better than that of 8-MOP (P < 0.05). XBM could also obviously improve the nail-fold microcirculation, elevate the plasma endothelin-1 level and lower the serum IgG (P < 0.01).
