Electrostatic effects on the redox photochemistry of synthetic probes (1, 2, and 1-Zn) are examined by adjusting the thermodynamic driving force of their oxidation reactions. The redox photochemistry was simply controlled by introducing a zinc binding site (2,2'-dipicolylamine (DPA)) on the coumarin moiety of probe 2. There is a clinical need for imaging technologies that can accurately detect cell death in a multitude of pathological conditions. Zinc(II)-bis(dipicolylamine) (Zn2BDPA) coordination complexes are known to associate with the anionic phosphatidylserine that is exposed on the surface of dead and dying cells, and fluorescent monovalent Zn2BDPA probes are successful cell death imaging agents. This present study compared the membrane targeting ability of two structurally related deep-red fluorescent probes, bis-Zn2BDPA-SR and tetra-Zn2BDPA-SR, with two and four appended Zn2BDPA units, respectively.

Special membranological studies of the role of antioxidant emoxipine in combined pharmacological support of stable function of the transplanted kidney in 30 patients have shown that this drug restores phospholipid pool of red cell membranes and improves their physical properties. BACKGROUND: Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic non-specific inflammatory bowel disease with an increasing incidence worldwide. Patients with CD are facing elevated risk for mental disorders (MD) than healthy people, and chronic psychological stress is considered to trigger deterioration and relapse of CD. The microbiome-gut-brain axis (MGBA) is recognized as a crucial factor in unraveling this connection. Whereas, so far, few studies have revealed the relationship of the microbiota communities and tryptophan catabolites of the terminal ileum mucosa on gut-brain communication.
